Are Disruptor missiles useful?

They do a tiny amount of shield damage and no apparent hull damage, can they break equipment on unshielded ships, like Cargo Bay Shielding?
That would be the only reason for me to try to steal the fab plans from the Yaki.

While they don't do much Hull damage they do drain laser energy and distrupt the ships speed and steering.

Essentially when you get hit you temporarily lose any engine and rudder tunings you have.

So they can be useful for things like boarding
