How to start Universal Trader? - answered: not possible with Pirate TS ship

I've picked up quite a few UT pilots in the course of my game, so I figured it was time to put them to use. I put a lvl4 pilot into a TS and use the Add as pilot instruction to place him in charge of the ship. Then I sent it to buy the equipment I felt was necessary. The ship has got Nav, Trade 1,2,3, Trade Extension, even Fight 1 and 2. Homebased on the Hub station, with money in the station. Yet, the start universal/local trader commands do not appear. I've even tried removing and adding the pilot again and it still doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Trade Command Software Mk3 should be enough to start the command. You're not sitting in the ship you want to start the Mk3 trader in, right?

No, I'm not in the UT ship. I sent it to an EqD to get the software and tried to start it there.

That's a ship type / class problem. Despite what the game says, the "Pirate ship" is internally classified as a "Pirate TS", which is not a valid class for the Mk3 trader command. It's already listed in our internal bugtracker. See also this report.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to think about which other ship to use.
Oh, I also heard that UTs were causing crashes in v1.1, has that been fixed?

I don't think the Pirate Ship works with the Station Manager either. It takes control, but doesn't seem to know how to use them.
