Engine tuning/Rudder optimization/ all LFL drops Question

Post by Beloborodom » Sat, 19. Jun 21, 19:35

Hello,
I have found some space containers with inside Engine Tuning.
I was wondering if they are limited per game or they just will spawn randoomly?

Because i took some engine tuning with the wrong ship so i dont wanna waste that occasion for future good ship.

Thanks to everybody, best game ever!

EDIT: Fixed title

Did you mean LFL drops? LFL stands for low frequency locator.

Along with engine tuning and rudder optimisation, discoveries and special discoveries respawn in random sectors. So taking engine tuning with your current ship should not be a problem for you later, if you change ship.

yeah you will get more engine tunings/ ruder optimisations spawning.
It will however require you to go searching for new discoveries. A maximum of 5 discovery spawns will be active at once so if you dont find those (because they are far out in xenon sectors or whatever) you will not get any comfortable spawns somewhere else-> you must go out and find them.

You could also use the All Seeing Eye and reload afterwards if you feel lazy.

A problem is, someone used a script to find wares discovered that they were spawning far outside even LFL range, making them all but impossible to find without cheating. I don't know if they changed that in 1.2

I wouldnt say impossible, but rather unlikly to find if you are not explictly searching the sector:

If you know the sector from a 25k buy you can find them by just flying at the edge of the map (when zoomed out). From what i have seen the spawn range depends on the map size and correlates to the zoomed out map.
And if you are producing your own advanced sats you could start dropping sats there to detect them with your network, though that does require quite a lot if you dont modify the sat range with a mod.

I'm currently using a 1km/s supertuned Kestrel to try and hunt down drops and discoveries. It can be a chore, also splatting against asteroids has now killed more than all other deaths combined.

yeah asteroids are the most dangerous enemy in the game.
Which is why i always laugh when an enemy tells me that my flying skills are similar to a big asteroid. Quite often that ends exactly like a "ship vs asteroid" scenario: A nice collision with the ship blowing up

Actually, for me there doesn't seem to be new engine tuning and rudder optimisation crates spawning... I used the All Seeing Eye script to collect all the initial crates scattered across the universe, after which only Discoveries and Special Discoveries have continued to spawn. I just ran the script again, collected all available discoveries and still only more of the same spawning, not a single tuning in sight. I thought they were effectively unlimited????

they are unlimited but rare.

they have a 5% chance of appearing for each new spawn

Oh, ok, I guess that's fair. So I'm gonna have to keep harvesting until they pop up. Btw, do they spawn as single units, or do the newly spawned boxes still include 4 to 8 tunings like at the beginning?

they are single units.

the large amounts you get at the beginning are a fixed amount

There is a problem with the tuning crates which are not initially spawned. While they do spawn they seem to disappear after a short time.
Havnt found out the reason yet.

I wonder if the NPC "Scavenger" script has something to do with it
