It's probably just as well that I have the beacon exploit available as a source of credits as the Nividium asteroids have stopped respawning. My mining ships still find use for weapon duplicating, though currently the Boron hate me so I can't duplicate their ion weapons just yet even though I do have the plans for the Ion Cannon factory. In fact they hate me so much I thought "what the hell" and boarded one of the two Megalodons they had stationed in Rolk's legacy, given it couldn't get any worse. I'll probably grab the second before trying to rebuild my notoriety, once some more marines train. I had to bring along 5 maxed ones last time otherwise the 10 normal ones would get wiped out if they went by themselves, the extra experience is wasted on those with 100 combat. Still, I'm in no hurry :D
They'll respawn eventually. They just respawn quicker if you pop them personally. I've depleted Unclaimed Sector near Getsu Fune twice only ever having used automated mining. Perpetual Sin was different. Broke 2 with Hornet Missiles, the last was done automated. It also was the last and took forever to respawn unlike the 1st 2. But it did eventually.

I'm still getting the hang of boarding operations. I got my eye on Hatikvahs Faith still. Kraken loaded with 28 marines fully trained (except combat). A Cobra waiting for it's compliment (18 with 10 to go) as well. 37 personnel awaiting completion of training at my own Marine Training Barracks. And 40+ in Aladna Hill undergoing training as well. Yea I got a ton and I am dragging my feet in the process. Hoping to have lot's of spare marines.

What did you use to take the Mega? I'm thinking of jumping into the Kraken personally to take my next 2 targets. I successfully acquired/borrowed from Terracorp the Jump Drive Installation Kits for my docks. Took 4 tries to get.

Soooo I must have gotten really lucky with that station. All the merchants are only asking for 1 Nividium now. This is gonna be more of a pain than I thought. Wish they weren't soo random. But "meh" oh well. :) On the flip side, I have seen a lot wanting 1 focus crystal and 1 quantum processor. Keeping fingers crossed that I will see those for sale at one. If even just 1 at a time, that would leave hope. And every (faction) station at least has bartering. Wish me luck.
I used my Pteranodon to knock down the Mega shields and used the ever-reliable Sirokos (which I had flee the moment it launched the pods) to send the marines. Took a fair bit of hull damage despite hiding under the Mega after a full frontal assault with the PALCs keeping its shields down where it couldn't bring its strongest weapons to bear, then jumping to the gate once the marines got on board. I actually got back in range just as the takeover was complete, I was surprised the other Megalodon didn't even attempt to assist its compatriot even though my notoriety was already at "kill if in core Boron sectors" level.

Had to attempt it 3 times because first time I sent just the 10 marines that were still being levelled (all died), second attempt I'd forgotten to replenish the pods from the last boarding  Third I send those 10 along with the 5 maxed guys (all survived)

I took my first pirate cap. Took the Condor. It was kind of fun the way it happened too. So I learned the hard way, turn off turrets when using a Missile Frigate to capture a ship. Dumb thing launched "on it's own" a full hammer torpedo barrage as my marines got into the ship. Did you know those things seek out a new target once the initial is gone? Damn.....

Anyway, had to reload a couple times. Used my Kraken. One barrage filed via the special commands did what I needed it to. Got the attention of the condor to make it approach me. Thing fired a coupe firestorm torpedos at me. Talk about rude you know? lol... anyway I countered by launching a flail barrage at it. One took it out, caused splash damage to the condor heavily each time, rest peppering to keep the shields down. Marines got in. Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... touch down! Suddenly, one of your ships is under attack. Check sector map, only other ship was my spring blossom. Sure enough, Carrack spawned at the gate it was at. It launched it's fighter drones. Dangit, I was saving those. lol.... I jumped it back to Aladna Hill. Fired a double torpedo barrage at the thing. It insta popped. At first I was like, did they all miss? Nope. Just took a moment. Booom!!!! Then the rest took out it's fighter escorts. The rest hit the east gate. Took 2/3 it's shields in that one volley. Pirate Base and Anarchy Port took exception to that. Now they are officially red to me. Ooops.

Got me Condor which is now undergoing RE. Next target, Brigantine. Slowly training my Marines Combat rank this way. After that I think it's time to get a Hoshi and Akurei. Then maybe a Coloss... ahem... Shuri. Now that I had the full power of a missile frigate between my legs, always wanted to feel that kind of power emanating from there. Just gotta replenish those Torpedos. Now I fully understand the rep requirements for them.

That reminds me of my experience with the Black Market. I was looking to sell off my excess Disintegrator Rifles. I found a buyer, but they only took one. I was disappointed at first, then I realized, they were still there, still asking for rifles. So I sold them a few more, and they were still asking, so I keep selling more and more, until I sold all the rifles.

Maybe you're seeing something similar?

Yea, I know it is. Problem is, doing that, you won't get the higher price. You have to exceed a certain amount and then the merchant ups the price he offers to buy from you. So in the case of Nividium, if you want to sell for 24k a unit, you need to sell in bulk. When I first docked at Dark Waters, it had 2 merchants wanting to purchase 1.6k units and 4k units. I took full advantage of that. The 4k netted me 96 million credits for that much Nividium. And I didn't have to go through the PHQ. Made me soo happy.

From my observation, sometimes some of the targets you need to kill leave the sector and cannot be reacquired. If they slip by the Kyoto, there's no chance they'll be destroyed later and the mission cannot be completed.
Still, causing collisions with stations was the most amusing way to do the mission!
I know old comment, but how exactly do you get them to purposely collide with stations? I tried it once with a J in Akeelas Beacon. It just executed a 180, flew away, and re-approached.

You drag the station using a tractor beam into the target ship. Only good for that mission, and only if you were friendly with the target, because hostiles would just shoot you on approach.

They're also good at blowing up the station, an M2 can chew through one in about 90 seconds.

That makes sense. I'm gonna have to try that once. Can imagine the look on a captains face. "Helmsman, keep shooting that idiot charging us. Umm, helmsman, what the heck is he dragging behind him? Helmsman, course CORRECTION!! Tooo LATE! BOOM!!" :D

Soo I am having some interesting fun. And made some honest and interesting "to me" conclusions. Boarding is soo easy from an M7M. I think I also need to make a few dedicated to Hammer Heavy Torpedos. Quite deadly.

I finally managed to sneak a single use jump beacon from TerraCorp HQ. And I did a few; Save and launch invasion scenarios.

Here is my assault force that I used. (All carriers had full fighter wings.)
1 Colossus, 1 Shark, 2 Galleon, 2 Zeus, 2 Pirate Mobile Pirate Station :D
2 Megalodon, 2 Ray, 1 Titan, 2 Brigantine
11 Cerberus, 3 Thresher, 1 Akurei, 1 Deimos
2 Kraken, 1 Cobra, 1 Senshi, 1 Minotaur
6 Centaur, 6 Heavy Centaur

Enemy Force:
1 I
2 K
1 J
3 Q
2 P
Numerous Fighters :sceptic:

End Result (Depsite serious lag - I found my PC's limitation)
Destroyed all enemy forces, destroyed Xenon shipyard. 8)
Lost 1 Cerberus, 1 Cobra, numerous fighters. Several Centaur and Heavy Centaur took severe damage, but all jumped out safely.

Lot's of enemy bails. More than 15.

Watching the mayhem unfold was quite entertaining. I couldn't save the results due to the Cobra having had 26 fully trained marines. But proclaiming complete victory over
Spoiler
Show
Sanctuary of Darkness
was quite enjoyable.

1 conclusion, the jump to me really needs to be adjusted back to simply jump to me. Not jump to my location and immediately engage everything marked as enemy. Still, seeing all my carriers just suddenly drop all fighter wings and go at it was kinda cool.

Anyway, just wanted to share my fun.

So, 7 weeks after we found the sell-and-reclaim trick, I got 103 billion credits from selling ships loaded with Beacons. Yet, the Epic Empire achievement wasn't triggered. Any idea what I missed? I don't think my game got a Modified tag, because that should appear at the bottom of the Pilot Status window, right?

Empire Management lists "Player Account" and "Empire Net Worth" separately. Presumably, the latter needs to be >100bn instead of the former for the achievement.

I checked Net Worth in Empire Management (for the first time ever) and that triggered the Achievement. I guess that isn't tallied unless you open the window. Duh...

Well, now I have reason to get up to 100bn if there's an achievement in it! :D

I'm building that slowly. I'm at 17bn net worth. Only 83 bn more to go.

Before the beacon trick, I was at 8 or 10. Then, as you saw, 7 weeks of flying around.

I can't imagine having 100bn worth of stuff unless I build a load more complexes. Because I only have two at the moment it's not like I have need of a large fleet for security. Balancing race relations so I can build a large weapons complex is going to be my next challenge. Standings with the Split and Pirates are keeping me from increasing my rank among the Terrans any further. Getting back on the good side of the Boron might help with that.

Speaking of building stuff, I added a Khaak Corvette to my build queue. Why? Because I spent a couple of hours raising hell in the Khaak sector above Maelstrom Beta in my Megalodon blasting my way from one end to the other killing 60 Khaak corvettes and claiming the occasional Khaak fighter that bailed, most of which had a couple of Beta Kyons. So when the corvette finishes construction I'll be able to arm it right off the bat. I discovered too that with the cargo bay hacker you can attempt to pinch stuff from an actively hostile target but it's very rare that you'll succeed- I only got one Kyon that way and maybe 4 in total from loot drops.

Browsing the net worth windows, I see that my single most valuable asset is the TS carrying my stack of JBs. 71 of them for over 19 billion.
