[BUG] Destroying too much in a sector causes sudden, intense lag - improved in upcoming update (1.2)

Post by Xe-131 »

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. In short, I flatten a sector, and all of a sudden the game starts freezing for ~2 seconds every ~5 seconds, without any indication of lag beforehand. My computer is powerful enough to handle the game usually, so I'm not entirely sure what's happening here. The lag issue also continues when I move out of the sector.

EDIT: The lag also continues if I save and reload when it has already started to lag.

Yep I noticed it when I would go invade and the whole game would freeze and as a consequence arrests my HP Envy with its 16GB of RAM so much that I would have to do a force-shutdown

I also faced this when fighting Xenon. I had an Agamomnon, Griffon, Pteranodon killing Xenons with me in Kogarasu. I jumped in an Aegir to the fray to see how it fares againsgt Xenon and game started lagging a little afterwards. First I thought it was due to too much beam weapons being fired. So I jumped out from the sector leaving the capital ships to fight. Still the problem was there.

Had to restart the game multiple times which was very painful to loose the battle progress. Then I thought its a ship related script issue as the lag started after my Aegir joined the battle. So I sent it to recycle in the HQ and as soon as the recycle process started, the lag disappeared. Dunno if that is related or a coincidence.

What about X4? Nah, I prefer a space simulator rather than a walking simulator.

Had the same issues but in lighter version. On the other hand I didn't participate in the fights at all. As soon as Xenons attack the sector with enough forces I experience noticeable freezes.

Encountered this bug first when I've finished the plot battle in Xenon Hub sector.
Had to roll back to an older save.

I had this problem too. A Xenon Q went on a rampage and I had hefty lags.
Have a more or less good PC setup but still...
I was told it could be an issue with the processor and the game not supporting multi-core. But I never had such lags before in X3:AP and thought there is something not right.

The lag is the result of the threat table getting too large and causing lag when ever it gets analysed

This should be fixed in 1.2

Awesome stuff, I was worried it was just me experiencing something unfixable. Many thanks!

I think i ran in this issue too, i attacked all races to gain reputation for Terran and since that, the savegame size is twice the size then before.
My reputation looks like this:

And the game started lagging quite often now.

Savegame if needed: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13-8yiJ ... sp=sharing
