You can find a few ships that you can claim, and these come with wares/weapons that you can sell
The HQ also has more wares than you need, so you can sell some of them too for a boost
Finally, theres the explorers guild that may turn up occasionally, this one is less predictable though

With the Low Frequency Locator, you can find two TS in the "The Void" sectors , a Dolphin and a Demeter. The latter is carrying a bunch of weapons which you can sell. This gives you enough credits for the station, the Scorpion and everything else you need for the plot.
