[Solved] Game music completely scrambled

Greetings X fans!

I launched the game for the first time and the music appears completely scrambled (i.e. white noise and some faint beat in the background) on both the main screen and during play. Intro is fine though. Relaunched several times to no avail, and checked X3:AP but no issue there. Anyone else experiencing this?

Put music volume to zero, that seems to help for now.

UI in 4k still sucks thought... it's tiny!

yes i have the same problem, instead music I have only a noise, when I set the music to 0% the noise is gone.
Other sounds works (effects, voice)

Yeah, turned it down too for now. Hope there is a fix, it's not the same without music...

The solution: I uninstaled my Klite Codec pack, the noise is gone. Music works well.

I had the same problem. The couldn't hear the music for all the static and the noise. It was really bad. Then i remembered the x3 games don't like codec packs. So i uninstalled klite codecs. I also enabled creative alchemy. Now the game works properly for me. Hope this helps someone.

Yup, codec packs are still an issue I'm afraid. That's not something we could solve within the X3 engine. Anyone having sound or music problems should try removing any additional codecs they've installed.

Just uninstalled my KLite codec pack as well and it did the trick. I had no idea this could be an issue, never had that and I did play all versions of X3 before on the same PC. Anyway, happy ending, thank you guys! Back to it now

Now it works me correctly with K-Lite codec packages too.

I ran the Codec Enhancement Tool and:

1. Under General, I selected Fixes
2. Under Settings, I selected Reset

After aply both now it is OK

I have the k lite codec pack installed and needed to deactivate the link to mp2 and mp3 by opening the start menu -> k-lite codec pack -> LAV Audio and then deselecting mp2 and mp3 in the Formats tab.

Funny why we even need codec packs anymore?
Foobar - Best Audio program with fully customizable window using the regular windows appearance + for high end external audio decoder support.
MPC-HC - Best VHS like player
VLC - A good one if you don't mind the frame
