I believe this is enabled by the new more powerful magnet for capital ship introduced in a recent version (but not 3.20).
This more powerful magnet is so useful, I'd rather risk my ship spinning wildly from time to time rather than losing the magnet

You don't need something as bulky as a container. Today I was laying out nav beacons in a Katana and started moving before it had properly exited the ship. This sent my ship into a wild spin.

I believe this is fixed since 5.00 beta as I never encountered that issue anymore despite using magnet on a lot of cargo.
