4.1b4 entering gates from behind at very high speeds uses the gate twice

entering gates from behind at very high speeds (>5000m/s) with a M ship uses the gate twice, resulting you getting into the same system where you started.

Tried this with a Rapier at 7k+ in several gates and was not able to reproduce.

Please add more specific details and steps where this happens.

I have a modded Kuraokami, called "Kuraokami" not the plot one, prone to cause this bug, at at least 1 of 3 tries.
You need to be at full travel speed, an come exactly from behind the gate for best results.

Yes I'm aware but if speed is a factor the shiptype should not make a difference.

In any case I tried your save and went through several gates several times, in about 15 attempts only once I had a case where the ship came to a full stop instead of going trhough but was not able to repro again. All other cases the Ship went through the gates at max speed just fine.

Not OP but I find these bug happening for me as well ONLY in highly populated areas and with stations near gates. So my assumption is that it is performance-bound in some way

I mainly got it after longer gameruns, when the current performance issues kick in, so I would support the performance assumption.
I've a quite large teleport ready HQ in the save to drop the fps a bit.

I dont know if this is also relevant, but have experienced gate entry oddities recently with beta 4, with an AI pilot at the helm. This is in my long term ongoing game which occasionally can be hit by quite a loss in FPS.

Experimented with the Moreya and Nimcha, both as modded as can be rolled with less mass less drag, and more speed with slingshot.
In both ships I have been travelling as a passenger behind the AI pilot and witnessed the following quirk ..

On approaching the gate at high speed, straight at the gate (and not on a highway), the pilot at the very last minute turns the ship to one side (as if skidding to a halt on a motorbike) before flying through, the ship comes to a halt sideways on to the gate, and we are so close to the event horizon of the gate I am looking at the inside edge of the gate structure.

Then after stopping, the ship fly's through sideways and continues the journey.


I wonder if this is related, because I have seen this manoeuvre result in the sliding to a halt actually not quite stop and went through the gate, then came back through the gate again, and then proceeded once more to go through the gate and continue on his way, as if the pilot having overstepped the mark wanted to get back to the stopping position at the other side of the gate before continuing on through.
