[4.00 Beta 1 HF1] Uploading Crash Dumps

If there is a crash then a standard crashdump will be created and uploaded to the third party site
I have a crash dump from early this morning (possibly 'out of memory' or similar),
call-stack shows 7 levels of X4.exe calls :
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X4_400_2020 ... _53_52.dmp

This looks different to the usual 'no compatible code running' or 'the application is in break mode' (no call stack)
i.e. un-useful crash dumps that I had been getting quite frequently recently (for v3.30).

How do I know this has been uploaded ?, not sure if I was online at the time.

Is there a manual crash upload site ?
Since when I'm playing off-line presumably any new or pre-existing crash dumps won't be sent later.

Certainly I didn't get the Egosoft JIRA site opened up with
'You landed on this page because the game detected a runtime crash.'
e.g.
https://www.egosoft.com:8443/jira/brows ... key%20DESC
is this still used ?

From the Public Beta Rules & Info Sticky above:

"Crashdumps

Steam does not currently support automatic crashdump upload for 64-bit applications. We are therefore using a third party tool to provide this facility. If there is a crash then a standard crashdump will be created and uploaded to the third party site, from where we can perform analysis to determine the cause. As with Steam crashdumps no personal information is included in these crashdumps."

I would assume that you would have to be online at the time for this to work.

And another 'good looking' crash dump :

http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X4_400_2020 ... _08_05.dmp

This time was just simply closing X4 to the desktop.
This time I was definitely on-line, but there's no indication that it's been sent to ES.

Yes I agree Alan, I assumed the same thing,
which was why I was asking what to do about pre-existing crash dumps & how to make sure ES get them,
i.e. when you're not online, &/or have a list of crash dumps in your X4 game directory.

Surely ES would want all available crash dumps, rather than those that happened to be automatically sent (?)

Another crash with some call stack info,
this time just selecting a save to load, after playing for an hour :

http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X4_400_2020 ... _13_34.dmp

I think the game is so 'big' now I'm running close to using all RAM
Main memory is running at 15+ GByte of 16 (no swap file)
GPU is running typically 2.1 GByte of 4 GByte.

I don't actually know whether X4 using most of the RAM is the cause of these crashes.

Wondering whether to fit some more DDR3 1333 RAM (would have to replace it all, so ~£150),
or perhaps enable the Windows swapfile.

Running 'borderless window' rather than 'full screen', still at 3840x1600 though,
since it seems to use less memory for some reason.

Running X4/Steam off-line, mainly so I can disable (pause) Kaspersky virus protection (if I remember to),
this definitely seemed to help reduce the frequency of recent crashes, with v3.3 anyway.

For what it's worth, here's the current save game (79 MBytes zipped, loads & runs OK) :
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/save_004.xml.gz

And system info:
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/DxDiag.txt
(dxdiag.exe was crashing on examaning DirectShow, so not included in above file)
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/vulkaninfo.txt

Is posting links to crash dumps here a sensible way for ES to get the info,
or is there a better way ?

As a matter of interest,
that save I linked in the last post always crashes if I load it (works fine), then re-load straight away (immediate crash).

I've now got 32 GBytes RAM installed, rather than 16 GBytes before,
so pretty sure these crashes ares not 'all memory used up' as I originally thought.

Using save game 004 linked 3 posts above :

Consistent crash after loading save 004, then exit-to-desktop via menu
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X4_400_2020 ... _04_36.dmp

Consistent crash loading save 004, then reloading for 2nd time (crashes as soon a select game to load)
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X4_400_2020 ... _54_31.dmp

The above two crashes could well be effectively the same thing ?
