Couple of questions about different starts

Hello all..

So I’ve been trying all different start to see the difference and find the one I like the most. Apart from the obvious (money, starting ship and standing relationship with other factions) all of them seem to dump/point you to PHQ plot and then throw other plots at you when you enter certain systems?… the kingdom’s end start being a bit different since the the PHQ start with the dock already built and its location being different (like the terran start)…

My second question, I entered what I think is ToA DLC’s zone (the system is literally called Avarice) and got a couple of “important ” missions with some cinematics, but I ignored (though I accepted) them because there was no time limits and I was chasing a barbarossa that I wanted to “borrow”… both missions failed and disappeared (the trader was killed by pirates and the guy asking for engineers lost his ship)… I think I got a follow up mission to rescue the stranded pilot (the guy asking for engineers) but is the other pilot dead and his quest lost?


last question, as per moderator suggestion of on this forum (found in a reply to another’s user question), I disabled kingdom’s end DLC to be able to experience the PHQ’s full plot but it seems that the difference is just at the beginning of the the plot since KE pretty much drops the PHQ in your face with the dock already built… are the other differences further down the line? if there aren’t any other differences, can any enable KE and continue my saved game or do I need to start a new save?

All of the starts give you the ability to do all of the plots. It's just a matter of what ones you get first, with a few exceptions that require certain plots to be completed in order to activate others.

Both of those 'events' are at the start of the Avarice plotline but failing them doesn't fail the whole plotline.

You're probably referring to my post. However, I am not a dev, or any other employee of Egosoft. I'm a volunteer moderator and a gamer same as you. :D But to answer your question, yes, you'd need to start a new game with the Kingdom End DLC disabled in order to get the original PHQ plotline. Once you complete the PHQ plotline, you can then enable the KE DLC and continue on. You won't get a second PHQ handed to you by doing so. Only one PHQ per game. :wink:

Thank you for your answer… and sorry about the confusion about being a dev, not sure if it was your reply I read about KE but it probably was 😁

So, about the PHQ… does the game let you know when a particular plot is finished (sorry for asking, FFXIV had me spoiled on that front) so I can enable KE and start that plot too?

Not in so many words. I believe that you can safely enable the KE DLC shortly after the PHQ appears in Grand Exchange I and Boso Ta occupies it, although it may be even sooner. The PHQ plot isn't very long and doesn't require too many resources to get to a 'completed' state, which I consider done after Boso Ta arrives there (which will happen after you build a small dock on the PHQ, and escort one of his decoy ships to safety).

I see, thank you very much then. I already completed that part and now working on the teleportation thing. I also finished the quest for the explo ship that comes to reclaim the station (“reclaim what was lost” or something like that) so I will enable KE.
