Does anyone know the conditions that make NPCs abandoning stations?

So I finally got the courage and decided to look inside the game file to find this out.

I just took a quick look at the files. It seems that the check happens every 12 game hours (after one day?).
The station will not be removed if it's their only one in a 5 sector range producing the ware or it's a special type of station like Shipyard, Wharf, etc.
Now for the station to be removed, it needs to be "paused". What pause the station I don't know but I guess it means not producing for whatever reason.
Maybe keep hacking the production module or not allowing the station to receive wares for the next 12 hours will trigger the action?

I think it means that if AI built more stations than can provide resources, then it can disassemble stations that are not active (and not alone)
