Asgard Loadouts
So i've just captured my first Asgard using my Syn and 4 Baldrics worth of marines. What are peoples opinions on decent loadouts for the asgard?

Anti-fighter all the turrets. The XL main battery is all the anti-capital damage needed. This would mean TER L Beams/Pulse or ARG L Pulse.
If you want to overkill capitals then PAR or SPL L Plasma the turrets. In this configuration you will need an escort to deal with S/M ships.

i'm using arg M flak with 8 L par plasma and 8 L arg beams.
s/m ships, no matter how many, cant even touch me.
capital ships are only dangerous in groups of at least 3 K plus 1 I.

Re: Asgard Loadouts
My Asgard/Syn setups - are pretty much comparable, Argon M Tracking Missile Turrets for defence (Smart Missiles), Argon L Plasma Turrets on Attack My Target, Terran Shields/Engines.
I typically use escort Tokyo/Osaka ships with mainly Terran Bolt Turrets for affirmative fighter support (exception on Tokyo being the two located inside the docking bay - use Beams there).

Re: Asgard Loadouts
What's the reasoning behind using Terran engines?
On paper, they don't look better than argon or paranid. (I use Argon all-round)
Is there some hidden stat that I'm missing?

Re: Asgard Loadouts
They accelerate to max speed in no time. In the end you're faster in most cases. Terran Combat engines offset the slow speed of fighters but only for the player. You can zip in and out with high speed without problems. Best engines, imo.
For L+ ships it's a no brainer. Other engines may have faster top speed but that would come in effect at larger distances only - and sectors are only so big.
Re: Asgard Loadouts
Terran engines accelerate quickly in both boost and travel.
There is a youtube video (can't find) where Destroyers from all factions race 600km. Osaka gets a huge head-start. Even though its max travel speed is not the highest, nobody can catch up it within that distance. Perhaps on a 800km track ... but there are not many such sectors. Rattlesnake is left in everyone's dust; slower acceleration and low max travel speed.
As for loadout ... I keep them as I get them. The most important thing about Asgard is not that you have some, but that the TER do not have any.

Re: Asgard Loadouts
Yeah I just saw that video.
It's actually all Osakas with each having a travel engine from a different race, which is the ideal comparison.
Gonna test the combat variant, just incase it differs.
Thanks

Re: Asgard Loadouts
Both. Combat engines have no ramp up time. So the Terran combat engines get even faster to travel speed.
Re: Asgard Loadouts
There is a limit on how long you can boost. Terran engines (or is it due to thicker shields) can do it longer. Obviously explicit boost while the Travelengine is still charging is something that AI pilots do not do.

Re: Asgard Loadouts
Terran engines also have better boost efficiency.
