Best sectors for superfactories
Hi!
What are best sectors (including xenon sectors) in the known universe for placing super-factories with (or having nearby) all resources for production (ore, silicon, methane, helium, hydrogen) ?
I placed mine in Nopileus Fortune IV, but purely because of location to other sectors.. I would like to create another super factory somewhere else..
Thanks!

Second Contact II Flashpoint: Has most mineables and what it does not have will be found 1 sector away. Is also positioned near the highway ring so trade is efficient.
Trinity Sanctum III: Has most mineables and what it does not have will be found 1 sector away. Some mineable fields may be prone to depletion depending on the intended scale of the complex. Is also positioned near the highway ring so trade is efficient.

Re: Best sectors for superfactories
grand exchange, the HQ is placed I think 4 sectors from all npc yards, and when you get to 5 star manager, station traders can reach almost the whole map
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.
Re: Best sectors for superfactories
I know this is the spoiler section but I'm still going to say: WARNING: big spoilers ahead, don't expand the below table if you don't want to spoil the mystery
I did some analysis of the resourceareas stored in the save game to see where all the resources were at. This seems to be static/hardcoded with no variety between games as far as I could tell from a quick look.
To clarify, each sector is divided in a large number of 'areas' which I guess correspond to the small hexagons on the map, and each of these areas has some settings that determine which resource can be mined there and how common or uncommon it is. The scores in the below table indicate how many areas are in each sector for each mineable resource.
In most areas the available resources are marked as "medium" but there are a few areas where it is "high" or "veryhigh". For the scores below, each "medium" area is scored as 1, "high" as 3 and "veryhigh" as 9. From what I could see the high and very high scores are usually combined with a medium (so an area either has medium, or medium AND high, or medium AND veryhigh) so if an area has "high" it effectively gets 4 points (1 for medium + 3 for high) and if it is "veryhigh" it effectively gets 10 points (1 for medium + 9 for veryhigh). These scores are picked entirely arbitrary, however the high and very high areas are very rare so don't affect the score all that much.
In any case a higher score means 'plenty' and a lower score means 'not that much'. There are some sectors with no resourceareas at all, which have been marked with "NA".
Note that I did not take the respawn timers into account, it's possible that some areas respawn much quicker than others and thus can in theory provide much more resources in the long run.
Some observations:
- Ore and Silicon are common throughout the galaxy and usually come in pairs. If an area has a lot of ore it is likely also to have a lot of silicon. Makes sense as in reality these would both come from the same rocky asteroids.
- Ice is much rarer than I expected. I've stuck to Grand Exchange I for a long time and guess I got spoiled as it has a decent amount, but it's not at all as common as I thought.
- The bottleneck in any game is probably going to be methane, Matrix #9 contains a whopping 80% of all of the galaxy's reserves (which explains why the Teladi seem so eager to get it under control in my game).

I think Hatikva'h's choice III has all 7 ressources. It's pretty close to the highway ring, too.

This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.

Re: Best sectors for superfactories
I dont suppose anyone whose previously run this check can run it for 4.x? Would be very helpful I think for the mining changes. If no one whose previously done this is around, does anyone have whatever script they used to make the check, and could share the data?
Sorry for the necro, but this was a very useful thread, and it was great that it was updated for 3.x. Hopefully it can be updated for 4.x too!

Re: Best sectors for superfactories
I presume that the table was printed with the:
That is probably a statement in R (free statistics program). R can read XML (which the save is).
What statements read and create the "df" object? I have no idea.
Code: Select all
df.sectors[,c("name","helium","hydrogen","methane","ice","ore","silicon","nividium")]

Re: Best sectors for superfactories
Family Zhin....plenty of resourses...not close to highway... good place but not at the start of the game....with Tharka,s Cascade sector clear on south ...easy to reach all map
Re: Best sectors for superfactories
Yeah, I'm eyeing this sector in Split playthrough. I was thinking about taking all the NW part of the map and topple ZYA.
