These are really easy to destroy, remember to get on the back from above and then you can take out the engines first, this will keep the "I" from rolling around to the side making you the target from the those side guns, you will have to keep your ship very close ( a small ship with MK2 bolt guns is great ) from there then take out the both engines so it will not go around in circles... (or it could hit its travel mode and leave you standing there too)
Take your time and slowly creep up on those top guns and take all three of them out, they will turn white while you are hitting it. same with the engines. after you do that its guns are useless if you take them out from the top then to the sides.... Hit the part where there is no armor, which is at the top behind the guns near the front.
I done many of these and its easy to do in a small ship with MK2 bolt guns.

Can also depend on how much money you want to throw at the problem. I took a Colossus Vanguard loaded up with 40 Pulsars and 10 Nemesis Vanguards against one and killed it pretty quickly. That was with bad load outs on most of the ships, 35 of the Pulsars and the 10 Nemesis had nothing but bolt repeater IIs on them, 5 Pulsars had nothing but launchers on them (can't remember which ones). I'd build another fleet much differently when I get around to it again.
The big problem is that there is no fleet support, so when I saw how many where damaged and what it'd take to repair and rearm them I just sold the whole fleet minus the carrier.
Can't wait for carrier support

30 fighters with torpedo launchers
-minimum level 3 preferably 4 star piloting skill pilots with some stars in morale, get rid of any that don't seem to fire any torpedoes, make sure you have torpedoes selected in the weapon configuration or they might not fire any torpedoes
-at least 3 torpedo launchers per ship
-no ship mods necessary
-combat engines/thrusters
-send in some drones to draw fire
-recall any fighters that take shield damage
-you should be able to blow up an I in sector with no losses within a few minutes
-I am guessing 10 m size bombers and 40 fighters would work even faster
-you might need some anti fighter ships (3-5) to cover the redocking of your torpedo ships since enemy fighters can destroy them quickly and drones seem to output less dps than a fighter.

Blowing up some ks and an I with torpedo fighters. Even though I did a terrible job with tons of screw ups all my ships survived. Usually the ships don't get hull damage.

Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
I wouldn't say you did a terrible job. Not knocking Egosoft but the interface when using a carrier with a fleet of fighters is pretty clunky. I could go on with the improvements needed for carriers, but there are already several threads dedicated to that, and this is not one of them.burger1 wrote: ↑Sun, 28. Personally I think I'm going to hold off on using carriers again until the process is streamlined some more either by Egosoft or mods.

I use a destroyer for these. First the engines are knocked off line. Ar that point just take out the weapons on your favorite side and just let your turret do the work.
Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
With Fighters?
Those L-turrets won't destroy your turrets instantly?
I guess when they are within your range, it's the same the other way around.
How many fighters would be necessary to destroy an I?
Are the costs within the 600.000 credits profits?
Edit:
Just tried it,
15-20 fighters per K/I and the Sektor was safe again.
Not a single Fighter was in danger.
Actually it was a nice screenplay on the map.
Seeing the little green triangles swarm around an icon and watch as the blue and green bars of the I decreased

I've killed several Xenon capital ships yesterday with just my only Peregrine V. It's super easy, just takes a while.
First of all what you need to learn is that smaller ships (S, M) will be captured with XL's gravity field and will travel alongside it, as long as you keep it close enough. So, you pick a spot, that is only defended by a couple of turrets, "jump" straight to it with boost, just make sure you'll still have some shields when you are close, you still have turrets to kill, before you're safe!
When you're inside the gravity well take out the turrets, that are shooting at you as fast as you can. I've used both M beam and M bolt guns (2 forward facing) and my 4 turrets are M Pulse lasers. Turrets will pop pretty fast, next thing you can do is to relax and let your turrets slowly kill the monster. You can even turn on the SETA, just be aware that turrets, that you've destroyed, will probably be repaired at some point, and you'll have to kill them again.
Large ships are easy targets for an S/M fighter if that fighter is controlled by a player. AI won't abuse blind spots, nor it will make them, like I did in an example above. So if you want to kill those ships on your own - it's not a big deal. If you want to kill them while you're off sector - use S/M ships with as many plasma guns as you can fit. I was using a fleet of 10 peregrins with 2 Plasmas and 4 bolt turrets. 10 of them tear apart everything in offloaded battles, and they all tougether still cost less then a single carrier/destroyer

Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
Yesterday i watched and I fighting against some HOP fighters. And....well first it moved like bugged. left right ,left, up, down, up, down, right, left...and so on.
And it have way to less weapons. It looks so wired a 3 or 4 miles long ship with 5 turrets? 10? Weaponrange seems to be smaller then ship lenght.....does not look good far worse then X3 combat and especialy worse then XR (from what i have seen on utube didn't play it)
Xenon don't need a number tweak. They need more and diffrent kind of weapons and a combat script overhaul.

An I with 5 turrets?
Thought it had 40.

Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
It looks like 5, range is too low. Big ship combat, or combat at all looks and feels pretty boring. Even compared to some older games. Not everything is bad, but its far away from being good-

Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
Upgrade a Nemesis decently and you can solo it pretty easily, it just takes a few passes to take out some turrets to give yourself a blind spot to sit in, then a while of holding down the fire button and shooting torpedos.
Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
50 Nemessis (I use bolt-cannons and laser turrets) do a pretty good number on most anything.
Good to keep a group of these in some sectors, so if something comes up, you can extinguish it quickly!

Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
My first encounter with an I was with a K in tow as a wingman. They were setup right next to the gate to hit traffic in and out of the gate into Hewa's Twin from Trinity Sanctum. The Xenon had already taken over Scale Plate Green and Company Regard because of this. I sent a fleet of 9 Oddyesses and 10 Nemesis Vanguards supporting them after the I and the K. All were sporting mostly plasma turrents....no missiles. I was OOS. Based on what I read, I expect them to get clobbered but wanted to see how many survived. They killed both the I and the K in about 8 minutes with NO losses.
BTW, my first attempt at killing the I myself in my Nemesis by sitting in a blind spot on top and hammering away as someone else posted a video of. It didn't go well at all. The K simple came along and blasted the hell out of me....hitting the I as well. Of course, I died long before the I likely even noticed the K was firing on it.

When up against more than one destroyer and escort it's best to deal with escorts first and then lure one of the destroyers far away from the other. They are not so brainy and fall for it every time. A squadron of 24 Perseus fighters equipped with beam weapons can eat up a K with no losses. They can also deal out a K and I together, but you need to be OOS and watching so you can withdraw damaged fighters for repairs. I build defence platforms at the Xenon gates that include a S/M repair dock. They do not seem to do much OOS, but if in the sector they are glorious. The platform can dispatch a destroyer in seconds. OOS their main use is repairs and for assigning the squadron to so i do not have a massive list of fleets or unassigned.vectorprime27 wrote: ↑Thu, 22. Aug 19, 23:20

I have seen the platform seem to cause a build up of Xenon on the other side of the gate. Dozens of P, M, and N plus destroyers. I am not sure if the defence platform and squadron is causing this, or if it is just usual mustering that I happened to notice. Anything that goes thru that gate is toasted by all those Xenon.
Some of the Xenon sectors are contested space, so factions build defence platforms in them. This can be annoying because I have found traders of mine trying to supply them and ignoring blacklists that say to stay out of enemy sectors.
I have enough ships to go into the Xenon sectors and put an end to them, but I don't. I make a game of securing those border regions and leave the Xenon sectors alone - for now at least. It makes for a very busy game and something to do with all those credits. I got on this gate blocking game because I was losing too many traders. I wanted to make all sectors safe for trade. Once I have done that I might think about taking those Xenon out and making a move on HOP.
Trouble is though that growth in the universe is huge. So many more factories and frame rates are starting to get too low to continue. It may force me to remove all those factories by force just to keep my game going, but those factories are also customers. If I kill them all there are no credits to be made because my factories are self sufficient. Space capitalism and war will be superseded by space communism and boring old peace and tranquility.
Re: How do you fight Xenon Branch 9 Destroyer I?
I got stuck inside !
The Xenon XEN I (very big one) killed 4 or 5 ai rattlesnake and a big fleet around it damn, i followed the author advices and rushed the xenon engine area at the bottom with my simple nemesis vanguard (love this ship), but when i started to shoot the engine etc my ship got stuck inside the xenon destroyer... from the belly of the beast i killed it (many torpedo, etc).

That's a nice if rather exploity method. Since this is a 2 year dormant thread and may have been made somewhat obsolescent by game version combat and asset updates, I'll close it.
