[Mod] Combat Improved - FastTurrets/FastRounds/AccurateMissiles

Hey everyone,

So I wanted to create a combat mod that would improve upon the base game, while modifying as little as was necessary.

I haven't increased/reduced damage of anything in my mods, you will get (hopefully) an overall improved combat experience and nothing more.

For modularity, I have separated all components into their own extension within the pack, so that one can simply choose which parts they wish to turn on or not.

In the pack thus far you will find:


Fast Turrets:

Turrets now swivel on a dime.


Fast Rounds:

This simple script makes bullets fly 2-4 times faster and about twice as far.
This has the surprising effect of slightly improved performance in large battles (tested).


Accurate Missiles:

Improves accuracy of Missiles.
Dramatically decreases lock time on guided missiles.
Reduces the ridiculous lifetimes of a few larger missiles/torpedoes (over two minutes? really?).
Does not increase the speed of missiles (through testing I found this to decrease accuracy).

Less Crystals:

Reduces the number of Crystals found in the game.
Feel free not to install this, as I realize most people like them as plentiful as they are.

Well the Devs said the turrets are fixed in 1.30 so it might be useless i havent had a chance to play it yet though but if they dont work ill be back for this mod.

Is the mod saverelevant? You did not mark as save=0.

Another question, is there any documentation i can reference that has been released?

Edit: I found the reference you mentioned will add it to my next release!

Great mod! improves the combat nicley. would also benifit from hull x2 or x3 mod so battles last alittle longer

UPDATE: I will soon be adding improved missile accuracy to the mix.

Unless otherwise requested I'm going to make a single release for both weapons and missiles simply named: Combat improved.

Just a bit of a question here. I use this mod viewtopic.php?f=181&t=405068

if I used this mod next to that what should I not use? I atm don't use the fast rounds part of this mod since that mod makes similar changes but what about the turrets?

I haven't tried this mod yet, but I can confirm that turrets are borderline useless in 1.30 so the changes seem pretty necessary.

I'm not sure about combining the two mods, it seems as though the author of that link has played with most files so I can't guarantee functionality.

As for your comment about the missiles being separate, I've done that.

I will also continue to make my mod as modular as I can.

That mod has a shield only version.

Just now download your mod will try it out. Been using the tracer mod. Always on the look out for better combat lol. I just do not know about the farther range, all the mods are doing this but still nothing ever seems to hit beyond 4k or so unless its a large target.

The bullet speed increase improves the chance of hitting a distant target, but the reason you miss has more to do with the increased chance that your target has changed trajectory after the shot is placed.
Try using more missiles at these ranges for a greater chance oh hitting your target.

I'm using the AccurateMissiles folder but I don't see any missile improvement.

Does it go in the game extension folder or the docs extension folder? I've tried editing the values from another mod but nothing changes no matter what I do so I'm starting to wonder if I have it installed in the wrong folder.
