Hi,
I'm trying to get my X4 working on my laptop, and i'm running into this issue where the intel UHD GPU is being picked up for GPU work while I still have the Nvidia Quadro T1200 GPU not being used. I confirmed using gpu-z tool and task manager that the intel gpu was being used, which cause the intel gpu to go 100C in a few minutes and throttle the CPU.
I tried everything I could think of, and read about historically about this issue. Disabled the intel gpu in device manager - made it worse
Updated intel driver - no result (nvidia driver was already up to date)
Graphics settings in windows - set X4 executable to high performance dedicated gpu - no result
Turned off auto gpu select in X4 - no change
Turned on auto gpu select in X4 - no change
Manually selected dedicated GPU - no change
dxdiag is here:

vulkaninfo is here:

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Just for clarity, is this what you did using the Nvidia control panel?
A dog has a master; a cat has domestic staff.

Yes, that is what I tried and it doesn't work.
I also tried the option from the windows control panel, supposedly the Nvidia stuff no longer applies in Windows 10
What i have done to make this work after some trial and error.
#1 - set the game to full screen, disable auto detect GPU in the game, selected my dedicated GPU, this seems to work, I can get X4 to stay on GPU1 (nvidia card)
#2 - set the game to windowed - the game will stay with the GPU1
if you set the game to borderless window, you can get mixed results, alt-tabbing out of the game can switch the GPU back to GPU0 (intel) and the only way to get it back is to go windowed or fullscreen again.

Thanks for the workaround suggestions.

You can also try disabling Nvidia Optimus - that is Nvidia's solution for automatically switching between dedicated and integrated gpu.
There are 2 ways that I know of doing this:
1. Open Lenovo Vantage software which comes pre-installed on Lenovo laptops. You will need to log in or register your Lenovo account to open it. Find and disable the "hybrid mode" setting.
or
2. In the laptop's BIOS there should also be a setting called "Hybrid Mode", turn it off there. Please note that the BIOS set-up can vary between laptops, so I strongly recommend going through your laptop's documentation if you aren't comfortable navigating the BIOS.
Disabling Optimus on other laptop brands
The process is basically the same but every manufacturer has their own special software and a different name for it. ASUS for example uses "Armorycrate" software and calls it "GPU Mode".
Disabling Optimus might increase battery usage.
