[Tip] nVidia users - check your PhysX settings

Post by user1679 » Thu, 23. Feb 23, 03:51

.
NOTICE: I don't know why this works because X4 doesn't use PhysX. Maybe a driver bug?

In an effort to try to improve performance and after seeing many people say that X4 is CPU bound, I wanted to see if I could
offload as much as possible to the GPU. nVidia has a setting to allow the CPU to process PhysX and despite X4 not using
PhysX, turning this off gave me a bump of +10 fps (on my RTX 3060 I was getting 14-24 around stations, now 26-34 and even 40
in less busy sectors).

1. Open nVidia control panel
2. Select Configure Surround, PhysX
3. Under PhysX Settings select your nVidia GPU (not autoselect or CPU)
4. Click Apply

Again, I don't know why this works because X4 doesn't use PhysX but if I toggle it back to autoselect, I lose those 10 fps.
