HOtAs Deadzone too large - Resolution found.
Hi
I'm using a thrust master T 1600M HOTAs.
I noticed a delay with a slight delay with movement and tried tweaking the Dead zone but no setting there makes any difference.
Even 0% dead zone configuration has no effect.
Seen on google others having this issue years ago.
Any idea what I can do to configure the dead zone ? The setting is ignoring me.
I moved away from this game a couple of years ago because of it and want to jump back in.
Thanks
Confuseis

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
im using this same hotas in 6.0 with zero problems, notes for it mentioned something about deadzone adjustment and that probably fixed it, i tried the hotas in 5.1 but in fps mode my guy kept moving and also the map kept movingConfuseis wrote: ↑Sun, 5. Feb 23, 19:12Hi

since that was my first ever hotas i played some other games with it but finally with 6.0 gave it another go, i cant play x4 now without it
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.
Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Yes tried the Dead zone adjustment but there's still a delay between my twisting the stick and the ship moving.
Then when the ship does move its more distance than I want.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
did you try 6.0 beta version?

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
I have it setup to when I twist the stick the ship turns left or right.
Noting that I need to twist the stick nearly all the way before any movement occurs.
Im not sure i'll try the beta now.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Reinstalled Thrustmaster drivers. I've installed the Beta but same.
Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
oh, maybe its set to digital input and not analog, i actually dont know how to change this, maybe Alan the moderator can help he always says this info, I loaded the default profile and left the twist to be ship rotation and just changed buttons, everything works smooth

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Yes, it's not in the stick set-up, it's in what in-game control inputs you bind your stick analogue outputs to. The game has separate digital and analogue inputs you can bind to. Also be a bit careful if/when using 3rd party game control profiles for X4 as they can totally confuse and mess things up.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Cheers Lads this sounds promising.
"Stick analogue outputs are bound to the analogue in-game control inputs and not to the digital ones."
Do we know where one sets this analogue setting ? Not seeing but will keep looking.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
i think in control settings the left column is analog and the right column is digital
columns where you bind keys, didn't check in game yet but i think its that

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
I see I was using a custom profile back then to have the steering left & right to be done by twisting the joystick
I've gone into controls > General
I see an analogue section and a Digital section. where I can edit the bindings.
I only see the left and right steering option under digital but no left and tight steering under the analogue section.
Not sure what to do now.
Beforehand with the default Thrustmaster T1600M when I twisted the stick the ship would spin which felt very odd.
I prefer to have the ship move left and right when twisting the stick as this feels more natural and is common in flight sims in general.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
umm change the bindings?
cant you just load default profile, change steering to Z and put rotate on x axis and thats it, just change all those in analog section

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Yes that's what i'm looking to do but there is no steer left or right option under analogue only up/down or strafe.
I see 2 option under the key mappings > General section. "Steering analogue:" and "Steering Digital:"
The steer left/right mapping option exists solely under the digital section.
Is there a way to force that up into the analogue section ?

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Think the settings you need to configure are 'primary steering axis' & 'secondary steering axis' in the analogue section. These handle yaw & roll respectively - up to you which axis on your joystick you want to assign to each.

Tried but no joy.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Not sure what to suggest then. However in case it's useful this is the config I'm currently using:

For reference devices are:
1. Thrustmaster Airbus joystick
2. TM Airbus throttle
3. TM T16000M joystick
This setup works absolutely fine with none of the issues you are experiencing. As you can see almost all of it's configured in the analogue section, with very little in the digital section. Mostly just a few speed controls for when I'm using the T16000M as my secondary control rather than the throttle.

Thanks
With that setup when you twist the stick left or right does it turn left right or does it rotate ?
Ask as the default bindings rotates the ship when I twist the stick which feels wrong for me.

Re: HOtAs Deadzone too large
Rotates, but easy enough to change that by assigning Z rotation (twist) to Primary Steering Axis & X axis to Secondary Steering Axis. Just did that to check - felt bloody weird (after 8k hours with them configured the other way round), but it did work.
