After all Xenon defense stations (and all other Xenon stations) have been destroyed, the Xenon sector remains the property. There are more defense stations of allied parties in the sector. I think I can remember that earlier this sector became neutral in this case.

Without a savegame, we're not going to be able to tell whether the situation you're seeing is valid or not. So far every case we have investigated has turned out to have some station or other claiming the sector (whether it's the original owner, or multiple new claimants meaning that ownership can't change to either of them).

there are no more supply transports and in construction mode there are no more unknown construction sites to be seen. Are there any other methods to find stations?

I think you have already identified the cause. The sector was Xenon owned but then before the last Xenon admin/dock module was destroyed, both the player and TER built admin/dock modules. Hence even after the Xenon are all gone, the sector remains contested (ie no successful single ownership take-over bid) between the player and TER and so will remain Xenon owned until either all the player or all the TER admin/dock modules are removed (assuming no other faction builds such modules there in the meantime).

Thanks. I've already thought of that, but I think in older game versions the sector became ownerless in this case.

Nope, that was not the case as far back as I can recall. As I understand it, all contested states have always had to be fully resolved before any change of sector ownership could occur.
