Mines are too slow with triggering

Mines that are hit with a fast S ship in travel mode and explode, doesnt damage the ship or take it out of travel mode or reduce shields. And also mines hit on the front of an L ship in travel mode destroy the engines and not the forward guns even at only 1000ms.

It is my understanding that this is kind of the point of mines. S and M ships have little to worry about but L and XL they pose a huge obstacle to. Kind of like real life tank barriers.

That said, I have been game overed due to mines flying through Faulty Logic. It is statistically unlikely but still all it takes is a direct hit head on and your dead. That said ships were slower back then (12 km/sec travel not 21 km/sec travel).
