Game Incorrectly Marked as Modified -- Version 4.00 (434806), English

I recently noticed that my game is marked as modified. I have been playing the same Young Gun start on and off since the first day the game was released, so these saves have been through quite a few version updates. My game is not modified and never has been. I have no idea how long it has been marked, but it seems I do not have any saves left that are not marked modified.

Is this something that can be corrected?

If the game has become modified then you should be able to correct it by verifying your files through the Steam or GOG client, or by manually reinstalling it. Loading unmodified saves into a modified game will always show them as modified. Whether or not they actually are modified will depend on whether you saved them while the game was modified. So in summary:

1. Verify or reinstall your game, and confirm that it's no longer modified.
2. Now check your savegames again, to see whether they really are modified.
3. Unmodified saves will then remain unmodified, modified saves will remain modified.

Exclude the X4 savegame folder from virus scans. In my case that not only "modified" them but also several times corrupted them. (Win10 defender)
