Game crashed. Had to close though (hard) kill signal. Since then the game refuses to start with a message: `Game is already running`
I assume it's some lock file that did not get reset due to the kill. Where is that file/lock entry?

A complete re-install fixed the problem. Would still be nice to know how to fix this with a bit less effort.

If a reinstall fixed it then something local had most likely gone wrong involving the previous game installation (eg interference, corruption or modification). There is nothing that the devs can do to fix such internal issues.
