It's time for Exitcode 222-231, 1028 (Access to physical device lost) - Seems fixed with Nvidia 462.07 driver hotfix.
This is going on 2 months now and this random error only started happening after I installed my 3080RTX to play Cyberpunk 2070. I had fewer problems running a hacked 980ti SLI profile. I have submitted countless dxdiags and kept my nvidia drivers up to date. Come on guys??

Have you tried the very latest 461.33 drivers from NVidia, released today? We have been working with them to help them solve a couple of driver issues, including one that specifically affects 3080 cards.

Is the fix only for 3xxx gfx cards? Because I had the same bugs on my 1070 and now I am back on an old driver which solved the issue.

It depends on which problem you're referring to. There are two fixes in the latest drivers, one for crashes and one for the HUD issue. The HUD fix is for all NVidia cards; the crash issue is listed in their release notes as being for "GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs", but we don't know whether there is any possibility it might fix problems on other cards.

CBJ , my friend thanks for getting back to me here but yeah, I posted again with the same symptoms after making sure I installed the latest nvidia driver, of course. Feel free to close my newer thread (viewtopic.php?f=180&t=432921), I'm not trying to spam you guys.
I know 4 other friends with similar 3080-centric builds as mine with and without overclocked (EVGA/MSI etc) and all are having the same crashes ONLY in x4 and not in other games after recently upgrading hardware.
edit: for confirmation the installed driver from nvidia is 461.09 could you provide a link to 461.33? I'm not seeing this available on the nvidia driver page. Nevermind found it here for help: https://international-gfe.download.nvid ... nal.hf.exe
edit2: output of dxdiag I can paste
My 980ti never had a single crash in x4 and I'm not going to start swapping out video cards just to play X4. Please let us know what's being done to fix this problem.
I'd love to include a dxdiag for your debugging but whenever I paste it, your forum says it cannot process the post so I'll trim:

Re: It's time for Exitcode 222-231, 1028 (Access to physical device lost)
We are working closely with NVidia to resolve any outstanding issues. They released these hotfix drivers partly because of our feedback, and we will continue to work with them until all the issues are resolved.
Sorry to keep going back to this, but can you please confirm that you have installed the 461.33 drivers and done a full Windows restart on your machine afterwards before trying the game again? We have had a some people who have installed the drivers but didn't restart, presumably because it's been a while since new drivers have required it, and only got the benefit of the driver fix once they'd done so.
If you still have the problem after all of the above then please upload your dmp file to a hosting site and provide a link, so that we can see whether it's the same case that NVidia have been looking into or not. If you have friends who are having the same problem then it's important to get them to post here too, with the same information we've requested from you, so that we can investigate and provide evidence to NVidia.

Confused as to why I'm not able to find the suggested driver on the Nvidia website. 461.09 is showing as 'you have the latest...' -I wonder if the release is staggered by country? The error is very rare for me, three times in thirty or so gaming hours, but I'd be happier if it were rarer still... (3070 card, btw.)
I spotted the link to new driver, but didn't want to override installed Geforce software.

Nvidia Hotfix 461.33 is just that, a hotfix to the latest release driver suite which is 461.09. See the Nvidia description page here.

Ah, thank you, installed now. - Strange to see the 'release date' shows as 12/02/2020 (I guess that's a US format date) which is back from the 7th Jan 2021 on 461.09 but the driver version is now 461.33.
Will restart and give it a try.

For reference, the URL for the newer driver is "https://international-gfe.download.nvidia.com/Windows/461.33hf/461.33-desktop-notebook-win10-64bit-international.hf.exe"
I have installed it and I will test to see if this resolves the frequent crashes.

@ Poopzone: Thanks, but as a general rule please do not link self-executing files directly. Linking a download page where people can see the description and decide whether to download is always preferable. I have left it as a link that can be copied and pasted for now.

Re: It's time for Exitcode 222-231, 1028 (Access to physical device lost)
Installed the new drivers yesterday when they came out.. Crashed in first 13 seconds of playing.
Restarted the computer.. And I had X4 playing on my PC for rest day.. Over 12 hours (Playing in background while I did other stuff, playing here and there).
Today I started her back up.. Left it for about 1 hour why I did other things. Came in started moving some Destroyers around for an attack, and It just crashed again. So thats 2 crashed for the Access to physical device lost, with this HOTFIX.
I don't have anything overclocked.. Even though my GTX 3080 might be considered Factory overclocked because its a EVGA FTW3 Gaming 3080 Ultra.
Gtx 3080
8700K Intel I7
32 Gigs Ram.
Latest Hotfix released yesterday.

@ malkuth1974: Please also upload and link your related dumpfile(s) as requested by CBJ above. The devs would not be able to get Nvidia to reassess this, if necessary, without such evidence.
Did you get a troubleshooting page from Egosoft in your browser, did it give you any advice and with what results?

Another crash while using hotfix driver. Exitcode 222-231, 1028 (Access to physical device lost)

I'd not been playing for very long, and was AFK whilst staring at the starry sky from a ship dealership.
I'm using an unclocked 3070, btw.
*edit* reverting to 461.09 where issue seemed less frequent.

Re: It's time for Exitcode 222-231, 1028 (Access to physical device lost)
Thanks to the tech gurus out there I found a simple "fix" for these crashes. I was getting crashes at the start of X4 or after loading a savegame. After successfully loading a savegame the crashes were very rare.
I tested this with 2 different 3090 RTX cards and I figured out that the X4 engine does not work well with the standard boost tables that these cards are using. The constant changes of boost clocks and loads are sooner or later causing crashes (for me even at the start when the Split Station was loading).
But a fix is simple - just set up a custom voltage curve with a fixed clock speed for your 30xx card via MSI Afterburner. You can save this as a Profile and only use this for X4 - but I also tested this with other games and its working there too.
With 850 mV @ 1800 MHz Boost clock (3090 RTX) I get 1815 MHz Boost all the time (only during gaming ofc) and the game is not crashing anymore. This setting should also work for a RTX 3080.
There are some good guides online how to set up custom voltage curves with the MSI Afterburner - just search for RTX 3070, 3080 or 3090 and "undervolting". The good thing is that with these settings these cards are using less voltage than usual - so the temps should be much lower too.

Same experience as I had, the new (460.33) driver seemed to actually crash more often
Each browser tab in the image is over 2 hours playtime (roughly 1 crash per 15 minutes) so it's definitely happening more frequently on the newer driver compared to the previous.

I'm going to roll back to the previous driver and also try the suggested undervolting curve with MSI Afterburner (using RTX3080 with no overclock)

Its just so odd.. I have not crashed again since My last post.. if I do crash again I will undervolt too.. I have an EVGA so I would have to use the EVGA Precision X1 software to do it though.Poopzone wrote: ↑Fri, 22. Jan 21, 04:03Gavrushka wrote: ↑Thu, 21.

Its almost like once your in the game for about 30 mins, your all set for the rest of the play time. LOL. But your on edge for that 30 mins. I usually crash during the day though, and play without issues once night comes.. LOL.. I would say maybe Heat.. But its Below freezing in these parts all the time right now.. So who knows.
