2.5 BUG | Ships get regularily teleported far outside the universe in Matrix #451

Post by Tamina »

Started a new game in 2.5.

I have a carrier patrolling the entry gate in Matrix #451 (from Ianamus Zura), together with 40 fighters. Some AI controlled patrolling fighters get regularily and seemingly randomly teleported far outside the map - way outside the maximum zoom level of the universe map. From my obervations this happens when a ship is trying to intercept an enemy but accidentially flys through a gate that happens to be inbetween both ships at that moment or during regular combat maneuvers. When the ship tries to return again (Ianamus Zura -> Matrix #451) there is a pretty high chance it gets teleported into oblivion.
Of course the player needs to be present in sector for this to happen.

This chance increases a lot (probably to a 100%) when an enemy fighter is behind a gate, because an intercepting ship is reentering the gate indefinitly until the bug occurs.

Tell me if you need a save but I would suggest to make a simple reliable test scenario - if this is an option, I sincerly dont know. A save would only reproduce the bug randomly maybe after a couple or minutes, in hours or never.

Best Regards
Mina

I started new game yesterday and saw sth similiar - I was on board of a fighter, finished clearing mines mission (near the gate, very close to it). I ordered NPC to take the helm and fly somewhere - NPC flew onto a gate and I finished faaaaar beyond visible borders of the universe.

This bug has been around since 1.0. The fix for us has been to align the gates with one another. I know it sounds absurd but more misalignment increases the chance and distance they will be teleported away. We haven't tested the details of this since 1.5ish so YMMV as far as how it works now.

I've been able to reproduce this a couple of times today, by accident, mind you. But, the 3 times I've seen this happen, i've been riding shotgun in a ship that's engaged in combat near the gate, it seems to try to avoid the gate but ends up just crossing over it and boom, ship is teleported across the galaxy. All 3 times I've done this has been in Matrix 451.

These two were teleported back to back. After the first one whisked away, i teleported myself to another ship and it happened again shortly after.

I think this just happens when a ship hits a hypergate that it doesn't want to fly through, don't think it's system specific. Same thing happened to my nemesis while i was on board being chauffeured by the AI while defending the gate in hatikvahs choice I.

Edit: P.s they do make it back home eventually, you just end up with a weirdly sized system map because they have the fly from the very edge to get back.
