1.10 BUG Problem with music - Partly resolved

Post by DarkSideMaster1 »

Please, investigate that issue with music

viewtopic.php?f=146&t=404003&p=4765117#p4765117

Maybe it is a bug? Because it is impossible hearing :(

Thank you.

No or limited Sounds/Voices/Music playing in-game
As strange as this may seem, try plugging your HOTAS into a USB 3 rather than a USB 2, and also try updating your mouse driver before seeing if sounds are improved.
From known issus Post Boy egosoft...
But was is that HOTAS Thing they Talk about?^^

That is a serius issu when playing, any longer help would be nice... @egosoft

X3 had amazing music. C'mon, Egosoft. Don't leave us hanging.

Noticed the same thing and my devices are plugged into USB3 and up-to-date. The music in each sector is something I always looked forward to in X-Games and it gave a fair chunk of it's charm. I'm a little disappointed it seems to be lacking, especially in sectors like Argon Prime and other home sectors which should stand out from the others. Instead we have this spooky howling which should be reserved for xenon and pirate sectors etc, or the main title theme will play in various sectors when and if music does trigger. Sometimes when music triggers, it also stops for no apparent reason just as it starts or is halfway through.

TLDR; there's very little to no sector specific music. Please, please bring this back! Even reusing some of the Rebirth OST's would suffice if some fillers are needed.

The combat music also frequently gets stuck, even when you're docked at a station.

Yes, a reinport of the Musics from X3 and XR would be the best... maybe there will be a mod for this someday....

I also see that militant music does not work quite correctly. More precisely, it does not turn off for a long time. It needs to be fixed.
In other games of the X series in space, beautiful music was played not in the combat mode, now incomprehensible background sounds, creaks, as from a horror movie. It rarely plays a normal track. Previously, each sector corresponded to a certain music. Where is all this in X4? Please correct.
Sorry for my English.

If there won't be any I'll do it myself one day I promise, even if I have no modding skills whatsoever and it will take me months

Having the same problem, about 80% of the music I hear is combat music.

To trigger this bug: it seems the combat music keeps playing when NPCs engage in battle.

The sticky combat music issue was fixed in build 1.20.

We have no idea why some users are not hearing sector music when most players are, but the posters here are not helping their cause very much by ignoring the first announcement on this forum.

Investigate what and how? I say again, please see the first Announcement on this forum because your issue is not a general one across all players.

Okay. But:

I found when music playing: If you save game (without music) and AFTER load game - I hear music in all sector :)

Maybe it helps to catch this bug.

I think the combat music is fixed! Would definitely like to see some sector specific music like in the previous games rather than a playlist though. For instance, the spooky music used to be heard only in pirate sectors, gaseous sectors or abandoned ones not in the core sectors. It's not a bug as such, but more a quality of life thing that could add immersion for those of us who have followed the series!

As sad as it can be, seems like it's not a bug. Check the X4 OST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIivmzUXgfM this is exactly what we hear in game, just 2-3 music tracks and others are more subtle and abstract ambient tracks. It's stil amazing work from Alexei Zakharov, but not everyone likes this changes. For me personally, it's a big deal, the difference is huge, that's why it feels like a bug. Can't even play anymore :) I will wait for a music mod or do it myself if I find the time for that.

Not playing a game because of this is just a lil ignorant imo. I'll still play the game regardless and I'm looking forward to see what Egosoft has in-store for us! The music is still great though it's just the way it's presented quite randomly in the game.

This is just one of the reasons. Don't get me wrong, the game is great, but it needs a lot of fixes and also mod the hell out of it :)

So....? What shall we do? I already took everything into USB 3 ports.... still not working. Even the Mods (for X3 or XR music don't work - because there is no music at all besides that stupid depressing track all the time! And i don't care if this is just with some few of the players - its far to serious to ignore it - just because there are not many with that problem :( )
Playing a Game without any music really takes a lot of Gamefun :/

@Moderator

If its not a bug, can you tell us how music is supposed to work? Are tracks still tied to specific sectors, or is it just a playlist with random start? Is the soundtrack from the provided youtube link representable? I have the battle music, but nothing else. Playing the game for hours, no real music.

There has to be a way to troubleshoot this. Either by console, start tracks manually, or play the tracks directly from the game directory, some kind of ini-file edit, logging, please! I want music.

EDIT: just reproduced it: start game, load savegame, music is there, xenon arrives, battle music starts, destroy xenon, battle music stops, no music. Save game, reload savegame, music starts! It has to be connected to the first bug, where battle music wasn't stopping. Now it is, but normal music doesn't resume.

I only get the intro theme and battle music.

One time I had music for Black Hole Sun....about fell out of my chair!

Played for about 30 hours and have only hear 3 themes and one of those was for about a minute.

Is this supposed to happen? How many tracks does everyone else hear?

Yup, I also reproduced it on my end in 1.50.

There is no crash log, coz no crashes involved, and also no point of providing save file, because loading save always restart the sector music. And DxDiag obviosly whont help here, but ok here is mine, oh wait, no attachment system on this forum? No DxDiag then. And specially "not a general one across all players." doesn't mean it can be ignored, what kind of response is that? oO
