1.20 BUG Occasionally most keyboard commands stop working and you must press ESC twice to restore - Fix in future build.

It sometimes even happens in the middle of combat, I can't press TAB too boost anymore, I can't fire with Spacebar anymore, however X to accelerate and Z to decelerate still work.

Quickly pressing esc to pause and esc again to resume fixes everything.

Hello,
this happens to me 3 times too - during combats only. I think that my ship is damaged by enemies but then I disscover that I can fire with middle mouse without problems.
WSAD, space, Tab and Shift+1 do not works (probasbly other keys too). Mouse works fine, Esc too.

I have had this happen to me as well. Opening and closing the menu or the map seems to fix it.

I have this issue too.
In my case it happens mostly in this situation:
I flew through the gate in travel mode (shift+1), then i need quickly change direction. I use a combination of Shift, Spacebar, Ctrl, 1, but because I do it quickly, I do not know what order or combination is used. But sometimes after changing the direction i can not enable travel mode (shift+1) or shoot (spacebar).
But double hit to ESC fix the issue and the keyboard works again.

Actually "me too" posts aren't always helpful as people with similar symptoms but different causes end up confusing matters, so we don't encourage that.

With regard to your specific issue, does pressing Esc twice clear the problem or is it more permanent than that?

Pressing esc twice will restore control, until it happens again. Also opening and closing the map fixes the issue as well as getting up and then sitting back in the command chair.

When this happens (for me) it also makes the mousewheel unresponsive (cannot change speed). If i press key "enter" the top ship-menu opens and closes very fast and after that all is back to normal, as in all keys and mousewheel works again.
For me the keys seems to lock up when i shift-1 to come out of travel-mode and scrolling the mouse wheel and press other keys all at the same time, as in trying to do alot of stuff in one go.

Since many people here are having different keyboard experiences that respond (or not) to different workarounds, and that the majority of X4 players are not seeing such issues, I suspect that you are all having different system-related issues.

Consider checking that your keyboard and mouse drivers are updated, that USB devices are not being interfered with by other USB controllers or devices, that wireless device batteries are fully powered, that cables are swapped, replaced or tested, and that all connectors and sockets are checked and clean. Even if this only helps a single one of you, it would be worth trying.

This problem isn't appearing at any other time or on any other game I play, only when I am playing X4. Though it happens in combat fairly often, one particular time it happens repeatedly and consistently is when I go through anomolies, though isn't tied to them exactly. I spent some time going through anoms repeatedly to get to a more favorable location, and each time I'd turn on mouse flight, boost through, then flip 180 to go through again. It was at this point I'd disable mouse flight to stabilize the screen to spot the anom I just came through. After this it would ALWAYS lock the keys and I'd have to hit Esc to open menu and close again to regain controls. It happened every single time. When it occurs in combat, it seems to be tied to when I disable mouse flight as well. It's not 100% of the time in combat, but it's pretty common. Every time I've had this problem it has happened when enabling or disabling mouse flight. Has happened on 1.0, 1.1, and 1.20.

its not logitech since I dont have anything logitech but have the same issue, don't play that much these days to test it and primarily use xbox controller for now until I get a big fleet that I have to manage

I respectfully disagree that this is a system issue since the only time this has ever happened is when I am playing X4. When the keyboard becomes unresponsive, I can alt-tab out of the game and the keyboard works fine in other apps even if X4 is still running.

I don't think its anything wrong with our PC and its 99% the game,but was thinking maybe we all have the same brand mouse but clearly not

They said that not all have this problem (we would be seeing this threads a lot more if they did) so its specific to something else

i'd wager the overwhelming majority of players lurk around the forums but never post about issue's they are having, rather just read whats going on and hope something is done about it..

i more commonly have this issue occur when coming out of travel mode so far if that helps. (albeit a very rare occurrence overall in 50 hours)
