Boron Reputation in X4

Fairly new to the game and despite the learning cliff (curve), I'm really enjoying the game. I want to get Boron Rep and I've done the questline but literally cannot find anything else to do. I trade in Boron space as much as possible and have put satellites on the gates but no bad guys seem to want to come into Boron space. I've done the quests I could find but still can't get past +12. Am I missing something or anyone with some advice? it would be much appreciated.

That's strange, as I got to higher than +12 (vanilla) just by doing the herald plots. Are you sure you have done everything for that plot line?

I found Boron space to be a great source of shady missions from signal leaks and have opened up bars on well over half the Boron stations encountered. Lucrative Opportunity missions are just exactly that (but don't give Boron rep obviously). Make the most of these while Boron illegal item policing is still flawed and before it gets fixed.

Otherwise, I just gained Boron rep and petty cash by doing lots of normal station missions and killing criminal mass traffic, SCA, Xenon and Kha'ak in Boron space (a Boron police licence helps too). They give fairly frequent 'Kill x Xenon ships of any type' missions that are handy since they reward well and you may well have been doing just that anyway. There is a pretty significant Boron mission type to kill Kha'ak outposts which would probably give lots of rep and cash, but would need some heavy firepower to be available to you. (If you've done the plot then you know where some of the outposts are.)

Once you have trade ships then you can trade with Boron stations for passive income and rep gain, but cloaked SCA pirates are quite active there (and hence good hunting targets too).

Thanks for replying. Yes, that's what I'm looking for. I don't have the firepower for the platforms yet but the significant missions to kill Xenon or khalks sounds good. Where are these missions? I must have missed them or looking in the wrong place. Boron police license went straight over my head. I will get that.

Just keep checking the 'Mission Offers' (Exclamation mark?) tab on the side menu to the left of the map screen (above Missions Manager) while flying around Boron space (re)discovering Boron stations.

At this stage, signal leak missions on stations may not help much as most will be for civilians or pirates and may risk damaging your Boron rep if not done very carefully, or will be very trivial taxi jobs, or leak/satellite repairs that may often distract more than they reward.

The more rewarding Boron missions will need some capable assets - escorting a miner tasks using a fast M ship with good guns and turrets for Kha'ak swatting can be good as long as you concentrate on keeping the miner alive rather than on collecting any loot.

Thanks again... I was landing on stations to try and spawn the missions.... didn't know you could just fly around..... Will try that tomorrow

Checking the mission offers tab is not always the best solution as I think there's a limit of how many missions spawn and you may not be close enough to see them.

There's a quirk you can use to quickly scan for the missions you want - if you're in a sector and have satellites placed around stations, you can instead target all the stations in turn from where you are. When you look at the targeting bracket in your cockpit view, look for mission icons next to the station's info icon. They will show at any distance, even if the station is too far for it to appear in the mission offers tab. When you see an icon matching the type of mission you're looking for, simply fly straight towards the station and the mission should pop up in the missions tab once you get close enough (~45km I think).
