Player invulnerability?

Post by Brinnie »

Due to circumstances that I wont get into, the locals in the Hatikvas sector got upset with me and unloaded their full weaponry on my own ship, before I could even realize it my hull was nearly wasted so I thought I ' d let them shoot me dead to just reload the game.

Oddly enough the hull got down to 1% and I wouldn't get anymore damage, surely that is not meant to happen, or is it?
Is it possible that an installed mod is causing this?

You should have been ejected out the ship. You could still die if a tracking mine decides to go for you. Not sure if enemy ships still shoot you while in a suit, they used to. And if you run out of air you die.

Sounds like a bug from a Mod indeed.
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

Thanks, you saying that makes me think the following:

Unless I am mistaken there is an option somewhere about been ejected out of the craft in case it should be destroyed and i think I have not enabled it, maybe this is the alternative to that option.

I can try to enable it, if I find it again, and see what happens or even disable all the mods and see.

I have removed all mods so that I have only got the Egosoft dlcs in the extension folder, to make a quick test I got into the Moraya and I headed for a Xenon sector to attack a defence platform.

Unsurprisingly I have got attacked and quickly enough my shield and hull went to 0%, however that is as far as it got to, from then on I was invulnerable.
I even took on a K with the same outcome.

Any ideas of what could be wrong?
Are there any other places where I might have some mod installed that could be causing this?

Removing mods doesn't magically remove all their effects from a savegame. If you're having problems with mods then you need to ask in the relevant thread(s) in the Scripts and Modding forum, not here.

It's a bit tricky, not so much cause I don't know which of the mods might be responsible for this behaviour, but more because I don't know for sure If it is actually due to a Mod at all. In fact when posting this I was unsure whether to put it here or in the technical forum.

But point taken. I will make a post in the mod section asking for a way to properly flush the mods out so I can try and pinpoint which one is the guilty one.

If I may one thing before taking the discussion there, if I start a new game while not having anything in the extensions folder would that be mod free?

Cheers.

Yes, starting a new game with all mods removed or disabled is the only way to test this correctly, by which I mean in such a way that a post in Tech Support would be accepted. :)

Thank you for that.

I would like to say "Sorry, I am new to the forums", but unfortunately I feel my age here nearly as much as I do in the real world :)

So I can't use that as an excuse.

Taking over plot relevant ships where they were not intended to be taken over could cause such things e.g. the Boron Queens Eluis ship.
Most plot relevant ships are indestructible.

Are you by any chance sitting in a formerly plot relevant ship?

Hi, yes I think the Moraya is one that I got in the plot, but I tried the "suicide mission" with it only to run this so called test as quickly as possible. I needed a quick ship near a combat ready sector and the Moraya qualified on both counts, but when it happened previously I was flying another ship, though I can't rememeber which one.

Notable difference, when I am flying the Moraya and shield and hull go down to 0, the ship stops taking further damage.
On the previous occasion, when flying another one (possibly a Nemesis V), when shield and hull went down to 0, the ship got teleported out of the fight.

Thank you for the info, I will try another suicide run with a common ship in my current playthrough but that story is likely to carry on on this other thread
viewtopic.php?f=181&t=455371&sid=9e104f ... 5#p5185316 as the outcome will probably be the same as the "teleport" scenario and possibly the consequence of a mod's unwanted side effect.

I have also started a new game without mods but I had to quit to get back to the world duties, as soon as I get back to it I will go and look for the quickest way to get blown up and see what happens.

Thank you for for saving me a lot of time.

It looks like you were right. When this thing happened I must have been flying plot relevant ships, beside the Moreya, maybe a Behemoth and/or a Nemesis V.
