Should the window smear be dialled back a bit ?

Post by Submarine » Wed, 23. Nov 22, 18:21

Should it actually get in the way of seeing the playfield?

As someone who plays mostly in fighters, this is a bit of a nuisance because I cant actually see what is going on in some systems / ships.

For example a nearly new Balaur in Zyarth's Dominion X.

The two suns create a large source of illumination and the smear effect amplifies the ambient light at some angles until you can see only this... the harvest yellow interior of your cockpit window, who knows what is going on outside that? I surely don't. At this point I am dodging audio effects!

I appreciate the effort which has gone into cockpits in X4, I really do, I just think the smear, while effective as a visual enhancement needs to be about 10% as lurid in is distortion/reflection of light.

Instead of dialing it back ... I say increase it to dirty up the ship all over and then create a ship wash station that makes it all shiny again.
There could even be missions where you have a cleaning laser to go all around and shiny up someone else's ship and get paid on how well you do.

Once done we can then think about a paint station that allows the player to paint their ships instead of having to earn singular paint jobs.

2nd thought .. how about the little meteor's and such actually cracking the cockpit glass & you have to get out with your repair laser to fix it?

Just a 2nd thought on the topic ...

Haven't you already seen the dockworkers steam-cleaning your ship in the docking bay? Mind you, they can get a bit forgetful.

It would have been awesome to see entrails of Dolphins on the windscreen of Hercules in X2. So many "thuds".
