Based on what’s in the game files I would assume ships sectors and factions.
In the files they are a few split ships including a gunship and battleship and for the xenon a carrier. I would guess they would give battleships to the other factions but they did not give the Paranid one in their make over so I don’t know.
We don’t know what paradise is like, but probably it’s blue magenta, flecked with pink. But even if it’s green and red-checked we should make the most of it. -Boron saying

Sounds like my X4 dream but dont belive it ... what gaming company in those days give players what they want ?

But xenon carrier would be awesome..

And about split Battleship there is some old files whith python bs allready viewtopic.php?t=423735

Sorry to break your dream, but Egosoft confirmed it long ago that both Gunship and Battleship are just scrapped models that won't be ever finished.

As for unused entires in the game file - we had a lot of those ever since X2 and none of those ever got finished - they are simply junk/concepts/leftovers.

More Battleships? Well, I think Egosoft needs to be careful in that matter. The more battleships get introduced, the less special they feel. Also, the more battleships are around, the less relevant are destroyers. Before adding new ships to existing factions I'd rather have them completely rebalance most of the current ships first, because there are many which are just not worth using, which too weak for their intended jobs, as well as some stats being totally underutilized when they could be used as a means to make ships more different (such as radar range or missile capacity).

I think Gunship is rather crude and rudimentary, but Battleship is 50% completed, so someone might give it a try.

I quite like that the Asgard and Erlking seem to be quite unique - one with a deathray, another fast and an anti fighter shredder. I consider the Split Raptor an unofficial op XL ship.

I'd be keen to see if egosoft could come up with any other unique traits for future battleships. Someone else mentioned missile capacity or radar range, which could make them specialised.

I distinctly lack imagination, so best I have is a mobile shipyard. I hate being tied down to a sector so would love the ability to stay nomadic whilst still having production capabilities.

I may be in the minority, but I prefer it when factions don't have perfectly symmetrical lists of ships. e.g. I actually like that the Paranid and Split have corvettes but not gunboats, while Argon and Teladi are the reciprocal.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

At the end of the year, something will be announced. Whatever gets announced, the actual release probably won't happen another 3-4 months at least.
By keeping players waiting this long, expectations will be high. Hopefully the announcement is substantive to justifiy the long silence.

I personally wish for better endgame-, big station- and map performance.

Also bring back

- Terran ATF ships + give them more m-turrets and more different weapons
- Boron, expand Xenon (help or influence them),
- more ships for basegame races (Teladi and Argon need some love too!)
- add more endgame content

and QoL updates. For example,

- change individual behaviour of multiple ships at once,
- ability to group repeat order ships
- option to remove transparency in station planner
- show radius of adv. sats in advance
- assign teutas to stations

etc.

Yes to all of that, and also give more types of late game big ships to xenon, Kha'ack, Pirates and incursion AI so we have more late game need for massive and well complimented fleets.

Personally, I'm ready for next iteration of X4 stand alone as long as:
- it adds Borons
- it increase the number of sectors (with emphasis on Pirate alleys and Xenon alleys)
- it increase ship variety (no copy/paste stats across the board)
- it increase weapon variety (e.g. more race unique weapons, turrets and missiles)
- missile overhaul (to make it more useful and less tedious to auto ressuply)
- expanding the ship roster of Xenon, Pirates and Khaak
- adds missing terraforming for other races (e.g. Paranid, Split, Terran) with emphasis on galaxy changing rewards (e.g. liek the one that decrese amount of pirates, or boost Antigone)
- adds reverse engineering and ship deconstruction


I could probably add a dozen more bullet points, but these above with already turn next X4 to ideal game.

Pretty much perfect list for me, but the one tiny omission I've grumbled over since X3 is the 'buy damaged second-hand ship offer.' It was the central tenet of my gameplay, and I had rows of equipment docks to 'showroom' my purchases.

Still, if there's enough new content/fixes in the next update, I may just have to fire up X4 again. I've bought all the DLC, but really stopped playing in any meaningful way after Split Vendetta.

Moreover, in addition to getting rid of copy/paste stats, it would be good if Egosoft rethink/remade the whole ship stats as well, adding the heat dissipation and power generator back to ship hull, instead of into the weapon.
I mean I was happy to hear Terran ships suppose to have superior heat management, yet it's only a lore backstory that has complete total zero revelance to actual stats (which, yet again are mostly copy/paste from the non-Terran races/ships/equipment).


Some new/changed things in X4 are simply a dead end, so Egosoft should thing what was better in X3 and bring it back to X4 SA / X-22.



Ohh and one more if important thing:
- the crew training and management GUI still needs more work to not be a chore hell jump through flaming hoops (aka HQ, research, terraforming - by the time you can train crew in HQ, you simply doesn't care anymore).

What the game needs is hostile Xenon terraforming. Add some stakes to Xenon conquering and holding territory for longer periods of time.

This, alongside making the workforce system more relevant by making it so all workforce originates from habitable planets/systems and has to be ferried to stations by physical (AI controlled) shuttles and requiring workforce for the production of nonbasic wares would make the game so much more immersive and strategically engaging. Supply or terraform a planet well and stations will thrive, blockade it or starve it out and it will have dramatic consequences for the stations it supplies. Build in the proximity of a big habitable planet with readily available workforce? Better be ready to pay high prices for plots and face stiff competition for your wares. Build in a far-off uninhabitable sector with great market opportunities? Better make sure you can protect the TP shuttles coming your way or you will be unable to make any use of your stations. Logistics wise, corridors of space would suddenly be relevant.

It's such a huge missed opportunity, and I wish they'd make better use of the game systems that are there but don't really synergise at the moment.

No new DLC, there will be new stand alone game based on X4 - Egosoft said they will give more info by the end of this year.
