A suggestion for hud

I would really love it if you had the option to show your Hull shields and cargo capacity displayed in number forms somewhere on the screen. As I find what we currently have is abit hard to notice during a fight.

Hull and shields are available as bars, but having numbers I wouldn't fight it. It just wouldn't be as sleek as just the color bars below the bore sight.

Cargo....not so sure....I don't see that as a critical information needed on the HUD. What if it was placed in the options menu when hitting Enter (where you can deploy objects, change turret behaviour, etc)??? Might be a good place for it to pull up more quickly than the map. Or maybe have that as a freighter-specific HUD item

Verbose "Shield depleted!" will be also useful.

"Shields down to 70%, Captain!" or "shields down to 1/3 of the shield bar, Captain". I know which one I prefer. I want values and information not a pretty curved line.

i am not sure since you have shield status literally right in front of your face all the time.

The OP sugestion is nice, but I'd love to simply be able to see my hull/shields in 3rd person view - somehow this is missing since 1.0 :(

this is a good point but i don't think that one bad decision advocates for another bad decision.
you do realize that the "hull critical" of raptor against K and one N does differ?

Verbose info more immersive, like crew chatting "We have new orders!", "Activating travel drive!", etc vs silent of space...

IMO, we should listen crew chat elsewhere, in combat too, like "Shield depleted!", "M/L-shield/turret damaged/destroyed!", "Engines damaged/destroyed!"...
And some visuals of "Red Alert" on bridge also will be great! :thumb_up:

I'd like to see a better message system for ships in distress, needing immediate help.
Possibly the ship name and location in the lower left (or right) that will stay displayed for 10 seconds +- with a dismiss box if you want to clear it before the 10 seconds.

I'm not sure I'd need all ships who are needing assistance but my ships definitely need to be displayed in an obvious manner. By the time I locate the ship needing help (when I'm busy doing other stuff), its cleared, hull at 40% or possibly destroyed. I know you can locate it in the big objects list but I would like something more focused and visible for a short period of time (no less than 8 or 9 secs - make it a game setting variable).

You can find this info in ship information in map.
I am not sure that you need it on hud.
How that will be useful?
If my ship can't fly i can get the point that engine damaged, i can use my spacesuit to repair them or will wait for repair drones or even better will switch to another ship and let npc caption to deal with it.
Why do I need that info on my hud?

This is not a directed movie, this is a game.
Extra noise and "red alert" blinks will distract from flying or doing combat.
Imagine you are piloting raptor, launched 50 fighters and all of them started communications. I think that will be messy.

I don't mind though to listen npc talking to each other when I am passing by.
Or even your "red alerts" while i am walking from transporter room to command console.
But not during combat for sure.

This way - yes, bad idea. But we could have just get more darker cockpit lights in red colors. This is less distract pilot from combat as regular bright lights.

Raptor captain already listen noisy and stupid taunts from entire fleet! Remove this! Add helpful chat, like "Got damaged! I'm out of the fight!", "Alfa have loss fighter!", "Enemy fighter/corvette/etc destroyed!", "More_enemies/enemy_destroyer/etc approaching!"
