Terran Accellerators models?
Browsing throught Steam workshop I found this:

Aparently it's unused model - why it's not used? It seems to be way better looking and simpier to navigate around than commonwealth accelerator.
It would be great to have those around Terran space.

My guess is that it is too simple so stands out. Or that it was to keep things standardised so as to not confuse new players. Or that all gates are already Terran gates due to the technology being stolen so a simpler Terran variant would not make sense. Or that they ran out of resources to polish the model. Really hard to guess the design decisions being made, but whatever the case is there is probably a good reason.

The simplicity really give a Terran advance Technology feeling - like the Commonwealth Accellerator is lower tech version and Terran one can do as good with much less structure.
Like like comparing of CRT monitors to modern flatscreen monitors.

i agree in this and also support it to be used in game. terran systems only tho.

I second this. Terrans are technologically so different (heck, they have an entire different economy) that a different accelerator would be warranted.
And if a model already exist, why not use it? I always kinda felt heartbroken when there is unused content. Just polish it and use it!

Is this true, lore-wise? Are all gates we have in the X4 universe based on terran technology? I thought most of them were made by the Sohnen civilization.

But apparently the "Ancients" made the gates, and I believe the Sohnen look after them.
Terrans are the only race advanced enough to replicate and build gates, which they did in one of the X3 series. It was fat and ugly though in comparison to the Ancient gates.
The Terrans invented the orbital accelerator tech though, i.e. the subject of this thread

That's nice. Always enjoyed the diversity that existed in the X-universe with the various races & their designs.

I've used them since the mod launched and agree that they are worth enabling in vanilla.
It even feels a bit weird to think about the old accelerators now next to TER stations.

That makes me wonder if there are more things in the game files, that got forgot and unused by accident?
Maybe a tiny things that are hard to spot, like sound files?

We did take a look at the gates and ran into patch code issues.
In short: Not doable, while keeping save game compatibility

Reading the mod description it seems to have run into the same save game computability issues.
I assume ideas like hiding the existing accelerator model in appropriate sectors while keeping its mechanics (sector change functionality) and placing the Terran one as a non-functional model only prop around it are not possible?
