Is there a way to auto-respond to SOS?

So I'm building stations in Nopolio's Fortune, which means lots of Kha'ak attacks. I've set my fighters in the area to "patrol", but I'm wondering whether there's a way to get them to automatically respond to a distress call from one of my miners when they get attacked? With Patrol, they don't seem to do much unless the enemy is right in front of them.
