It's also nice that the combat track ends right away when the fight is over.

Gregory, there is nothing on the 5.0 changelong about improve perf on AMD GPUs.
However tested tonight 5.0 beta 3 with the new AMD 22.2.1 which enables Vulkan 1.3 and got over 30% more FPS on a very heavy GPU benchmark we use here

With just MSAA 2x the FPS jumped over 40%, had to use the AMD chill to limit it to 143fps so it won't go over the Freesync range.
Is this perf increase related to improvements of the game or just the Vulkan 1.3 new streamlined processes?

FPS got a general boost (I've a nvidia RTX 3060). But we are still in beta phase - so this might still change. Guess that's why it isn't part of the "marketing speech" yet.

We never stop working on performance improvements, but I'm not aware of any changes to the game in this beta that would provide the kind of major increase you're describing there.

I did test the game, rolling back to 4.2 with 22.2.1 FPS was back to 80 on the test, and 109 with 5.0b3.
Unfortunately didn't test with 5.0 beta 1 & 2 to know when the changes occured.

I do not know if this perf boost exists with 22.1.1 and 5.0b3 or is a combination of the Vulkan 1.3 streamilined pipeline and perf improvements with 5.0.

On GeforceNows "2080"s I get merely single digit FPS on stations with the Beta. Occasional low FPS were okay in the past because it was still smooth but now it is more like 7 Frames are rendered in 1/10 of a second but the 8th frame takes 9/10 of a second to render, or in other words: Noticeable stutter.
Activating FSR helps a lot and puts it back to above 20 FPS.

So I can't confirm performance improvements on my end. Graphics settings are maxed+SSR.

I have been playing 5.00 beta 3 on Steam, and today Steam has updated this to 5.00 Beta 4.
Upon opening the game, I see the warning "Modified game detected" and at the top right where it says "Version: 5.00 Beta (471877)", it says "(modified)" right below.

Is this to be expected when playing a beta? If not, what can I do to solve this? The message warns that if I save any games with a "modified" game, the saves will be forever marked as modified. Would rather avoid if possible.

This was a fresh install originally of 5.00 beta 3, and I definitely do not have any mods installed.
It also appears I can not roll back to 5.00 beta 3 via steam anymore - it has been removed?

This seems to be a somewhat common Steamclient related issue. Something went wrong during download / patches. Verify your game files and it should be "fixed". Just make sure to never save your game if your client is marked as "modified" (as this can't be reversed).

(I'm playing on GOG and don't have that problem but there were some Steam users reporting just that)

This seems to be a somewhat common Steamclient related issue. Something went wrong during download / patches. Verify your game files and it should be "fixed". Just make sure to never save your game if your client is marked as "modified" (as this can't be reversed).

Great advice, thank you! Indeed Steam identified a few problem files and redownloaded, and now fixed.

I feel your pain at not seeing a bug you care about fixed yet but complaining about it in totally unrelated threads doesn't seem like it's going to garner any sympathy for you.
Looking over that particular bug I would guess that Ego has had to choose to prioritize other bugs that have a much more serious effect on gameplay than that one does. They appear to at least have acknowledged that that isn't the intended behavior so let them know you haven't forgotten about it in the bug forum once in a while and be patient. They have done a lot of work improving broken things in the game in addition to the new features they keep adding so as long as they know someone still cares about that one they should get around to it eventually.
