It says that 2 members of my crew are aboard, can hold 4 members and is clearly nominated as "escape pod"

Have seen similar, but not in that precise context. Here's some of those pods returning with marines after a boarding op:

Have also seen them used during in-sector crew transfers between ships.
No idea however if it's possible to retrieve crew from them after they've been used as escape pods.

Aparently, now one of my fighters is missing 2 crew members, but I be damn if I'm gone check 100 of them to determined which one is it. But hey, maybe I will find it when I rearm the damn things
