Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Here's my list
1. Target window in upper right/left, to view targeted ships or missiles
2. Customizable turret commands (alpha, beta, gamma, where we can set targeting priority for each of these commands)
3. Video enhancement goggles
4. Ability to hide objects from the property menu
5. Jump drives (controversial I know)
That's all I can personally think of right now. None of this means I prefer X3, there are still a massive number of things I prefer in X4 over X3, but I do wish some of the things on this list were brought over to X4.

Big NO for jumpdrives
But big YES for everything else.
Also, corporations with unique wares/ships would be nice.

Corporations for sure as the poster above said.
While I hate the Hub quest, I loved the actual Hub.... though in X4, I would just take a bunch of the Xenon gates and funnel them into earth, the Terrans are douches anyhow and have a super super easy time all game.

- The Vidar or some successor to it that shares a similarly unique design.
- THERESHALLBEWINGS
- The dialogue-option to apologize. Why did Egosoft even remove that? Friendly/neutral NPC-pilots actually DO apologize if they hit the player. WTF.
- Where did Julian Brennan and Ban Danna go? I only know where Saya went...
- The zoom and installable sensor-upgrades.

Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Ah yes, another wishing thread.
Well, my wishlist from X3 would be:
-Modtools that aren't a PitA to use.
-A Script language that isn't a PitA to use.
Oh wait, you probably meant something for vanilla gameplay....
Well:
-L-sized Carriers (aka M7 Carriers).
-XL-sized combat ships for all factions (aka old M2 destroyers. Not related to the X4 destroyers).
-Reverse engineering ships.
-Capturable Xenon/Kha'ak ships.
-Sla... I mean, involuntary internship (I know, spicy).
-The Bartering system (yes, there is someone who liked it and knew about it. I used it at times).
-Maybe the good old BBS system for some immersion (and news, you know).
-Borons (obviously).
-Yaki/Pirate ships (probably in the new DLC). I loved the Yaki cap ships. But with the new Xenon hybrid approach, they could be mega awesome.
-The Pirate Mandalay from X-T (never played the game, but saw a picture of the ship and loved it).
-The OTAS Corporation with their ship roaster.
-Too many things to count. Most of them ships, I guess.
As for the Jump drive and the HUB. I wouldn't mind them. I'd actually support that idea, although we don't really need both right now. With a bigger universe however, the JD and maybe even the HUB might become inevitable. Also, unfocussed Jump Drive could be fun. Finding RNG sectors to strip mine and find stuff.
Now a few more things, but from XR (I know, shocking):
-The Arawn.
-The Taranis.
-The Succellus.
-All the fighters.
-The rest of the ships too.
-Maybe even the sectors at one point.
-The specialised drones could also be awesome. Having cap ships use those shield drones might make their drone bays useful after all.
As for things that shouldn't be converted from X3:
-The Stock market. Seriously, that one was unbalanced as heck. Especially because it was not related to the economy itself for the most part and could be abused to hell. And I loved that. But it might be the single most unbalanced thing in the entire X Series by a long shot. Maybe if it was tied to the X4 economy, it could work. But even then, probably not considering how much abusive power a player gets in X4 over time.

Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Variable SETA setting, the default x6 in X4 causes so much script lag I can not use it without risking too many things going wrong in trading and the loss of ships I would not get when not using it. 2 times game speed would be good instead of x6.

- Corporations
- Aldrin (friendly terraformers and the Springblosson)
- Hyperion
- Secondary mode for turrets (for example, priorice missiles, defensive fire when not incoming missiles)
- Borons
- More deep plots, instead of the actual stupid choice A choice B approach.

Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Recycling and reverse engineering.
Turret priority customization.
The ability to loot and transport intact equipment (weapons, etc.)
More ships like the old M2s (which I guess are battleships now).
More ships like the old M6s (i.e. without landing pads).
Ships specifically designed as missile platforms, since the original ones didn't hold many missiles and became gunboats.
Subraces/Corporations with their own ship varieties.
edit: I will also throw in 'turret variety'. I miss being able to choose from so many different ways to outfit my ships, where they were not necessarily better or worse but different.

Wish some heavy and slow S-fighters, and S-transports maybe, have one rear turret.
Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
That's another thing, I miss the feeling that turrets were actually dangerous. The thought of an S turret in this game is almost funny, considering what sort of damage an M turret does. The beam version could probably be outperformed by the spacesuit laser.S!rAssassin wrote: ↑Fri, 12. Nov 21, 09:19Wish some heavy and slow S-fighters, and S-transports maybe, have one rear turret.

Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Jump driver as we seen in NPC JD in X-Rebirth would be quite interesting - e.g. you can jump to beacons within one star System, but you have to use gate to travel to another.
Of course Skunk all-galaxy JD is out of the window.
However for this to be usable, we would have to expand them map and reshape them to 3-tier hex system like:
Giant Hex - Star System.
Medium hex (current big hex) - Planetary sector (e.g. Saturn, Earth)
Small hex - local sector (e.g. Titan in Saturn sector, The Moon, or Earth in Earth sector, or Jovian Moons).
Personally I'd love for such JD to replace blue highways (which are prone to whole lot of issues and bugs, especially IS - I saw several times my Asgard blew out for no reason trying to enter Blue highway gate).

Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
IMHO, JD must be in L/XL ships as alternative to hightways for S/M ships. And it must consume fuel.
Current "cheat" teleport near gate - must die
Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Additionally, like in XR, Jump Drive module would allow Capships to disengage from combat - currently it's not possible coz cruise drive shut down every time anyone sneeze at the ship.
You could still disable it by destroying jump drive module, just like in XR.

Yes! This great gameplay part just be ripped!
Re: Features from X3 you wish were in X4
Regarding the jumpdrive, I would not want it back in its original X3 form, where you could use it to jump anywhere, friendly territory or not. I would limit its ability to jumping to the vicinity of friendly stations, and also limit it to L/XL ships.
In fact, these days I kind of wish for something that was in X Rebirth, that is, only large ships had continuous travel drive. Smaller ships like the skunk could travel drive for only short bursts of time. I would want this primarily to give large ships, particularly carriers, a greater benefit to their role of carrying fighters to their destination, since they could use travel drive and arrive at distant destination far more quickly than individual fighters travelling under their own power.
