Kills defending crew do not couse reputation loss?

Post by S!rAssassin » Tue, 19. Oct 21, 13:08

Why destroying turret or engine of friendly ship is unauthorised kill, but third stage of boarding it, with kills defend marines and crew are not?

This issue lets player to have "blue" capture many ships without reputation penalty, even if ship in center of ally fleet.

Yes, it has always seemed odd to me that making a friendly/neutral S/M ship bail and claiming it, or boarding one of their capitals, does not have the same rep penalty as killing those ships. I guess the reverse may also be equally odd in that you don't get the rep gain for forcing the capture of an enemy ship near a station of your allies as you would if you killed it there.

Even without kill, reputation should be decreased. If you bail out of your car by someone, you didn't like him, right?

The whole interaction of rep, boarding, and destructible elements like turrets is incredibly weird and illogical. Kill a laser tower and the whole faction knows about it right away, attack a ship and they have to send a distress drone. Kill a turret on the ship and they all know about it again... but if you let the crew escape, they never tell anyone. What's more if you blow up the whole ship and all its crew without killing an innocent turret the rep loss is minimal but if you have to keep killing engines as they're repaired you will lose a lot of rep... but as you say, for killing the crew, again nothing.

It does not make sense at all. They should have unified it into a system where either rep is always known and proportionate to the action, or only known at all if something escapes. The two do not go together in any logical way.

Not quite on the main topic but just to comment on something LameFox wrote: ".. if you have to keep killing engines as they're repaired you will lose a lot of rep .. "

That's not really necessary though. If you keep the capital engines at less than say 20% hull each without destroying them then the ship cannot move and you get no rep loss. It is actual surface element destruction that annoys them enough to lose you rep, not just shooting them. This is also useful for when you do take over the capital ship as the engines are ready to move the ship earlier than if you had destroyed them.
