Budgeted Game Start - Too Complicated to Reach

It seems overly complicated to start a budgeted custom game start:
  • Load a saved game
  • Save that game
  • Exit to the Start Menu
  • New Game
  • Custom Game Editor (Budgeted)
Not only is that too many "hidden" steps (I had to do an internet search to figure this out) but it takes a very long time. Loading and saving an X4 game takes a long time, even on an SSD.

Here's a radically different approach:
  • New Game
  • Custom Game Editor (Budgeted)
  • Select a saved game from a drop down (combobox) control
This saved game needs to be within a save game slot? Fine, add a second drop down control.

You realise you only have to do the step of loading the old save once, right? After that the budget will be there for future starts.

A wise developer once said that it should not be necessary to use the forum/wiki to understand how the game works. Why not just explain it INGAME?

Because it's not something players will normally have to do. It would end up with more people making the same mistake as the OP!

A small caption describing how to activate "the steps" when you are in the budget menu would be a convenient and simple solution ;)
