Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
Namely a Mk4 S shield.
Terran's whole "thing" in COH is vastly superior shields (and exclusive High Power weapons, but that comes at the cost of having virtually no weapon selection, so this one's a net loss for the Terrans actually)...through having one that's 1 Mark higher than everyone else.
Everyone has Mk1 XL shields, Terrans have Mk2.
Everyone has Mk2 L shields, Terrans have Mk3.
Everyone has Mk2 M shields, Terrans have Mk3.
Well, everyone has Mk3 S shields.
Except...Terrans also only have Mk3 S shields.
(Xenon and Kha'ak don't count.)
Split Mk4 combat engines use the exact same model as the Mk3 combat engine. They just have better stats in the macro.
So, we already have precedent. No need to make a new model, just add a macro and ware entry for the new shield.

Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
i don't get your point why should the terran get mk 4 shields if the other races are stuck to m,l mk2, respectively xl mk1 ?

Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
This is balanced. Split have MK4 combat engines for S and M ships but no MK1 combat engines for L and XL ships. As such the specialty equipment does not cover the entire stack, like how Terrans are missing the extra shield tier for S ships.
Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
Terrans do not "miss shield" on S. They have extra shields for M/L/XL. Half-empty, half-full.
They also have XL Battleship. Fighters are not critical, when you have Asgard.
Besides, "superior" is overrated; I just saw an Asgard die in seconds. Puny enclosure.

Terran Shields are already a pretty strong upgrade.

Might have better luck asking the devs to make the terran mk3 s shield have more hp then the teladi version. Until then the lizard people make the best shields for fighters.

It depends. The Split S shields have the lowest recharge delay so although they are made of paper they will recharge damage taken sooner than any other faction shield.Karmaticdamage wrote: ↑Fri, 10. Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
Can't really use boost very much in combat with such little shield hp. I prefer teladi mk 3 with a shield hp mod so I can boost a lot while fighting. AI fighters also are not the brightest, so I find it best to just stack as much hp on them as possible.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Fri, 10. Sep 21, 10:45It depends. Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
You need to consider that it's not much, given that Terran fighters are slow and clumsy - they can't avoid the dammage, so they need to soak it.
Currently with mk.3 shields Terran fighters dies very easy.
I'd welcome mk.4 shields for S-size ships.

Did it die to the AI? Because that would be something considering just how bad the AI is, or did you kill it? I'm constantly amazed that an Asgard can sit in a sector for as long as it wants whilst the awful AI code sends solo behemoths to die to it. What's more amazing is that Egosoft think that that's fine. I have a fighter docked to an Asgard as it wanders around Argon space nuking whatever it wants, The whole Argon/Ant navies can't remove it. Because the AI is "my first game" level of stupid.

The difference is OOS vs IS. In OOS, asgards are unstoppable, even against faction wharfs and shipyards. But IS, a few AI behemoths can easily defeat them.A2G wrote: ↑Fri, 10. Not what i have saw, i have deliberately been IS whilst an Asgard does what it wants. rarely does the AI send anything more than a solo destroyer to fight it, the Ai is clueless about mustering obviously. Have watched the glorious sight of the Argon sending a carrier to fight the Asgard, with it's guns, and no fighters aboard. When the Asgard actually has to fight more than one destroyer at once, it nukes them all without losing shield. The Ai is clueless, and egosoft should be ashamed of it.Karmaticdamage wrote: ↑Fri, 10. 'No' to both. I did personally fly it next to SCA Factory, which did the demolition with missiles.

Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
In my game Scale Plate had built an insane amount of stations in the corner of one of the silent witness sectors, didn't count them but it was easily 50, all crammed together. it was an infestation that called for genocide, so i obliged.

Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
More to do with the AI being resource poor. Every non terran faction is starving for advanced electronics and weapon components without player intervention. That carrier lost its fighters and couldn't afford to replace them. They are probably queued up at the wharf awaiting resources. ANT are tied up fighting the xenon and the hop from the beginning of the game, so by the time you complete covert operations and put them to war with the terrans, they are already hurting economically. Not that it will matter, an asgard can defeat the entire ANT fleet by itself in OOS. IS though its all rng, does the behemoths have L plasma? Did they start their attack from behind or from the side? Does its support fighters have torpedo launchers? Asgard cannot defeat entire fleets solo IS like it can OOS.A2G wrote: ↑Fri, 10. Re: Terran fighters are missing a critical equipment
That could explain the stupid AI, except that Asgard was attacked by 5 behemoths over around five minutes. Each on their own. So the AI did not make a calculation as to strength, and marshal its available resources to within the ballpark of parity before attacking. The fact that there is such a large difference in results OOS and IS is also stupid, i know that the same calculations can't be made, but they should be manipulated to give roughly the same result on averaged, But that ship sailed long ago with Egosoft, as it has never happened in X games, IS and OOS have always been 2 separate games.Karmaticdamage wrote: ↑Sat, 11. People wanting IWIN ships will never be satisfied. The game is balanced, so play it that way.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Fri, 10. Sep 21, 10:45It depends.
