I am reporting in using an I7-7700K along with an AMD 6800, 2X 8GB CL16 3400
X4 Foundations version 4.0. Using the same settings as outlined in your original post, 1440P ETC.
Using a slightly out of date GPU driver on this test: 21.6.1, the current being 21.8.1. My GPU clocks to 2200MHZ core and 2000MHZ memory during the test. GPU load fluctuates between 96%-98%.
135 FPS for most of the scene, until the fighters and corvettes fly by and then it drops down to about 115 during their flyby and for a bit after, after-which it goes back upto 135FPS and later dips down to 125FPS for a short while.

Thank you.
So seems there is performance issue with AMD cards with X4 Foundations by a lot.

a 6800 scoring just a smidge over a 1080 ti ? Crazy business. If this gets figured out and performance goes to inline where it "should" theoretically be... I'll be very happy and put that 6900xt back in.Wanabe wrote: ↑Thu, 19. Aug 21, 05:50I am reporting in using an I7-7700K along with an AMD 6800, 2X 8GB CL16 3400

Wonder what cbj would say about this discussion.
Maybe ego can reach out to amd and discuss optimization for their engine with them to try get some more performance out of amd cards vs nvidia ones.
Wonder if this would help ego for optimizing?

https://gpuopen.com/vulkan/?sessionGUID ... 78699a5502
https://gpuopen.com/rgp/ - really hope they can use this to deep dive into low level reporting to see the bottlenecks with this tool. Heck we can get it save a frame snapshot for you ego then send u it to analyse if you want.
Maybe one of the others might wana post their findings and results with a link to here on amd forums here as may help if a dev sees it there too?

Yep. Clearly there is a huge perf issue with RDNA1 & 2, not only 2.Skeeter wrote: ↑Thu, 19. Aug 21, 17:07Wonder what cbj would say about this discussion.

btw dont do somit stupid like i did and think maybe something in the vulkan sdk would do anything to help as when i got it and opened it then launched x4 at the main menu the fps was 1fps lol. Luckily i uninstalled it then launched x4 and was back to normal but yea not the best of ideas.

Using the graphical settings from the first post, I get 132-133 FPS in the first few seconds of the main menu.
Computer specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5900X
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX6800 (ReBar is enabled and functional)
- RAM: 4x8G 3600 16-16-16-36
- Storage: 1TB SK Hynix P31 NVMe PCI 3.0 SSD (not that it matters much for this test...)
On a slightly different set of graphics settings (volumetric fog off, reflections on low) I compared the RX6800 and the RTX3070Ti on the same computer with X4 and the main menu FPS where 147 for 3070Ti vs 130 for RX6800 (so not a huge difference). As you let the main menu scene play, towards the end it increases to higher FPS for both cards but with a much higher difference between them: 185 FPS 3070Ti vs 140 FPS RX6800.
To be clear, normally (when not doing FPS tests) I play X4 with 60FPS frame limit so I don't care about those FPS differences although it would be nice to see the card perform to what it is capable of. If you have any decent sized empire, explored enough of the galaxy and spend most of your time on the map (like I do) then you'll be CPU bottlenecked, not GPU. I get 25FPS-30FPS when I zoom out on the map (with GPU reporting 30% utilization) on my 5900X which is a much bigger issue than 130 vs 147 FPS in the main menu. So I'd rather see Egosoft put more time into improving the CPU performance of the game but anything helps

The linux kernel scheduler does much better job.
6800 is faster than the 3070Ti so worst case scenario should be in par, especially with BAR on.

Np found it.
The 6700XT should have been faster than 80 if I get 70 at spire.

My gpu is a Radeon VII. I will run the test later tonight. The architecture is GCN (same one used in Vega graphics cards). It differs substantially from RDNA used in the 5700 XT. They are somewhat comparable in performance though.
Re: Post your GPU scores - to prep for next gen cpu's I have 1080ti 3080ti 6900xt included
Yep. However has 10 times the VRAM Bus width
Re: Post your GPU scores - to prep for next gen cpu's I have 1080ti 3080ti 6900xt included
I have wondered, my 6700xt in gpuz says vram bandwidth is like 380 or something which isnt great vs say nvidia cards but i dont think that takes into account the 96mb infinity cache which i think effects the bw to be alot more when in use.
https://www.techarp.com/computer/amd-in ... explained/
I wonder if its used properly in x4?

RDNA1 doesn't have Infinity Cache, yet the GTX1080Ti is 60% faster than the overclocked 5700XT. Something that is not the case in any other game.Skeeter wrote: ↑Sat, 21. Atm thinking to go and open the box to plug the Vega 64 as the PCIe3 8x to test it too. Cannot put it on the normal slot as I have watercooling.

I know, just wondered if it was a factor for the 6 series of cards or not.
Re: Post your GPU scores - to prep for next gen cpu's I have 1080ti 3080ti 6900xt included
Results from the Radeon VII
System Specs:
i9-9900KS @ 5.0GHz all cores
32GB 3600MHz RAM
NVMe Samsung SSD
CPU & GPU on water cooling and nowhere near thermal limits.
Lowest framerate was always the Honshu flyby.
2560x1440 144Hz Dual Monitor. Primary monitor for gaming, secondary for system monitoring.
72-108 FPS, ~195 watts GPU usage, ~1750MHz Core, 1200MHz vRAM - Increased vRAM speed and undervolted GPU.
75-113, ~280 watts GPU usage, ~1900MHz Core, 1200MHz vRAM - Heavy overclock with +20% power limit.
68-103, ~190 watts GPU usage, ~1750MHz Core, 1000MHz vRAM - Mostly stock settings except for an undervolted GPU.
I also tested with the CPU @ 5.2 GHz but there was no discernable difference in performance (as expected).

Yep, there is issue with perf on the AMD cards in general, regardless GCN or RDNA1/2.
Hoping Egosoft has some good data to look at the issue.

Dont forget to add the result to the amd thread at amd support forum.
I tried passing this and other issues to a amd rep at ocuk forums, never know might help.
