A heavy torpedo takes 40 energy cells (40 m3), 40 missile components (80 m3), and 35 smart chips (70 m3), for a total volume of 190 m3. My Atlas Sentinel has an automatic loadout of the following:
Wait... you are telling me ONE heavy torpedo require 190m3 of components? Say the energy cells and smart chips are packed inside the torpedo and I only account for the missile components, doesn't 80m3 sounds a tad too big? I mean a sidewinder is approx 6 m3 and even a medium range ballistic missile eg a DF-21 is only around 20 m3... and a S ship can carry scores of those? It sound like one S ship can easily destroy a quite a few cities in a single run. (Do correct me if my calculations/understanding are wrong, I just quickly looked things up and did some quick math)

Depends the size of the torpedo and do not compare with real life.
In EVE Online we have 1400mm (1.4 metres) artillery, which means it is throwing a whole car.

You do not even need to compare it with real life, just look at a S torpedo launcher in-game, how is the torpedo going to fit the launcher? It doesn't matter if you have a 1400mm arty as long as the size is correct.

I say all L and XL ships should have more the 4 times their storage.
5 M Cargo ships together have more storage than any L or XL ship, but are really small in comparison.
But if you multiply the storage of all L and XL you end up with ships that barely use their cargo hold to its potential. There are only very few wares that stations can buy in bulk to fill their cargo. More often than not they still don’t use it because trading ai is ...

OP: yeah, they should up the storage. Makes no sense that the resupply can just supply 4 fighters worth of torpedos/missiles...

Well stations Container storgage modules need an increasement, too.
That would fix may issues the station AI has ATM.
to make it clear, an Argon, Teladi, Para,Split Containermodule offers:
S: 25000 M: 100000 L: 1000000
A Terran Module gives you:
S: 100000 M: 500000 L: 1000000
My X3 Mods

XRebirth, things left to patch:
In General; On Firing NPC's; In De Vries; Out Of Zone; And the Antiwishlist
