Dogs' digging behavior appears straightforward. But it conceals a lot of mysteries that few people have found. Even while your dog could be a sleuth searching for elusive hints, they might also be bored, frustrated, and perhaps even anxious. Are you wondering why dogs enjoy digging then? You can solve this puzzle with the aid of the article that follows!
Why do dogs like to dig?
Dogs frequently dig when they are bored or worried, and it is a fascinating activity to do. Your dog may occasionally find excitement, enjoyment, and fun while digging. This will thrill you as it gradually becomes a habit. If you let your dog dig for a while, it will discover many different places to dig and become enthusiastic about it.

Or when dogs are in a peaceful location, they always feel the most secure and comfortable mind. Dogs commonly dig as a stress-relieving technique, and persistent digging is frequently an indication that your pet needs more mental and physical activity.
There are situations where a dog is overly confined. Even when they aren't abandoned, they will try to escape their imprisonment by digging tunnels or opening doors. You and your dog can get to know one another better by taking a stroll together. Once more, assist your dog in resolving the matter. It's a wonderful idea to start running and working out!
Some dog breeds like to dig
Dogs that were originally bred to dig and catch bugs include terriers and other varieties of terriers. A dog's hooves are also specifically made to dig. Instead of accommodating their natural tendency to dig, think about making this activity more socially acceptable.
Dogs can be trained through enjoyable puzzle games or a range of dog sports that include using their noses to locate objects rather than digging. You can play with active dogs frequently by playing activities like tossing discs, tug of war, and picking up objects. Active dogs frequently enjoy running and jumping.
Dogs dig holes to cool off
The dog can avoid the scorching sun on hot days by hiding in the cool depths of the ground. When it's hot outside, your dog will dig a hole or seek out a cool place to hide. The dog might make a circle in the ground and bury himself inside it to enjoy the soil's coolness. Typically, a dog's optimal body temperature ranges from 101 to 102.5 °F. Tarps, umbrellas, or other forms of cover can frequently be added to them to prevent overheating.

Imitate human behavior
Maybe some dogs see their owners busy cleaning the garden and in there you are digging or hoeing to plant trees. Some dogs will notice that and will imitate you or maybe they will imitate other dogs if you have many dogs in your home.
Due to the hunting instincts of some dog breeds
Many dogs still carry the DNA of a predatory nest. Dogs frequently prowl the open area in search of small game. Due to its keen nose and excellent hunting skills, the dog can quickly spot any unusual activity. Your dog will behave in this way if it detects a peculiar odor on the ground because it wants to move and catch anything little in the backyard.
Find their favorite toys or food
The most priceless items that belong to your dog might be buried there. Since they dig numerous holes while attempting to remember where to bury them, this concealment behavior is made even more problematic. Instead of digging for items, they will figure up a means to bury their treasures. To skulk, the dog will dig a hole. Purebred dogs have the propensity to dig holes and bury anything that they perceive to be important even today. In this manner, the dog's belongings and food won't be accessible to anyone.
Some measures to prevent the dog from digging
Even though digging can be problematic for your garden haven, it only typically poses a health risk to your dog when they are trying to dig their way out of something.
1. Build a private digging area
This can be an unused area of your yard or you can use a large pot so they have a separate area to dig in.
2. Training
You need to patiently train them even while they are digging. For example, if they're doing the action for too long, you can tell them to stop with a command. Then let them rest and prepare a little food and drink.

Re: [Request] More than one ship loadout
Loadouts aren't as fixed as you seem to think. If you define a fixed loadout, then yes, it will just use that; that's the whole point of that system. But if you just set level and variation attributes instead, then there will be much more variety.
Re: [Request] More than one ship loadout
You want "more diversity", but complain that turrets are already maximally diverse (random)?vellawitting wrote: ↑Mon, 10. May 21, 09:15I think this could be used to make races and ships more diverse and also more logical. Right now the turrets are all randomly chosen.

Re: [Request] More than one ship loadout
I support this request and I have already asked for the same in the past.
Just to name some examples that are not possible with the current system
The system could even be expanded by defining paintjobs to loadouts so you could make flagships use special paintjobs.
Sorry to say this, but the vanilla loadoutsystem has many flaws that could all be fixed with a list of loadouts and weights for each ship.
Just to name some examples that are not possible with the current system
- Symmetric turret loadouts. Often ships have one weapon type on the left side and another on the right side which looks and feels odd. No player would build a ship like that. (Maybe you could do something like symmetry tags for weapons, but as far as I know, all turrerts lack this tag)
- Any kind of special loadout like mostly missiles with special missile (for example a swarm missile boat or a torpedo boat), artillery ships with only long range turrets, anti fighter frigates with only anti fighter weapons
- Flagships or any kind of extra strong ship that uses only the highest tier weapons/shields and engines/thrusters
- Race specific loadouts, for example let argons use mainly flak cannons while teladi have civs and paranid lasers or something like that. Right now they all pick randomly from all of their available weapons without a weight or so
- get rid of empty turret slots for combat vessels
- get rid of AI mostly picking the most expensive weapon/turret what makes no sense in my opinion (some ppl complained why the plasma artillery from my wapon pack mod is used so often by the AI and all I can say is its because its more expensive than the others and that the vanilla loadoutsystem prefers more expensive weapons)
The system could even be expanded by defining paintjobs to loadouts so you could make flagships use special paintjobs.
