Easy add for the game

This is really simple add you should allow player to purchase higher level captains by allowing us to set a slider 1-5 stars and if pick 5 star captain you will pay 10k or more for them. What are your thoughts? If your a dev would this be something you consider for the 2.6 update or any future ones.

They really should provide some way to do this, even if it costs a ton of credits.

I definately dont think you should just be able to pick what skill level you hire at. I think there should just be more better trained npc's to find on stations to hire - or perhaps add some new ways to find npcs (with a cost) like a hiring board. And 4 and 5 stars should be immensely rare even if these things were added. The npc skill system has the potential to be the most rewarding feature of the game, but it just isnt well done at the moment - allowing us to just pick high skill people? You might aswell remove the feature altogether.

It should be capped or really really extensive/rare to have a 4-5 stars pilot, but i agree it should be a possibility to at least hire a 3 stars with what the OP described.

Can imagine a price range to avoid early game to be too easy :
1 star - free
2 stars - 100k
3 stars - 500k
4 stars - 2M
5 stars - 5M

Now the question is, is a 5 star captain really worth it? The only thing is the 3 star for auto trade and thats it.

I have a 300 hour save and never seen a 5 star captain tbh. It should be at least "possible" to aqquire one.

They should implement this and increase the costs of ships by 5x as well. so theres at least something to spend all my money on...

And who gets paid for this service at your own facilities? As it is crew and software is entirely free at ones own facilities.

As a player I would like to know what improves with every skill level. For the captain but also for other crew members and station manager. If not you pay for something and don't know for what.

I think, that this mechanic (crew and captain skills) should not even exist in this game. Because current AI is buggy as hell and really dumb. How much worse is it?
So, instead of improving it, we have another RNG system that further aggravates the ship's behavior, turning the game into a total mess.

Or, pay them a regular wage.
0 stars = 50 credits/hour
1 star = 100 credits/hour
2 star = 200 credits/hour
3 stars = 400 credits/hour
4 stars = 800 credits/hour
5 stars = 1600 credits/hour

im gonna ditto the stations part of finding NPC's.... like the bar has mostly captains, but also some engineers and marines. You can go to the engineering bay to try and find higher skill engineers. The crewmembers around the landing/construction areas could be any role that you need. Security areas could have your management type NPCs, along with some engineering perhaps.

All these stations have different areas to visit, but there isn't much purpose. I'd love to see random mostly normal(1 star), some decent(2 star), and a few good(3 star) NPC's walking around that can be found, for the time investment to find them. Perhaps very very rarely you could find a 4 star in some area. Maybe 1 per station, or only on some select stations that is RNG to put one there.

I think most people would like to just be able to find the occasional 2 star or 3 star for management or captain roles.

You really really like taxes and wages
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

A scaling wage would be kinda annoying to keep track of once you start getting numerous large ships with hundreds of crew. Unless it was too low to need keeping track of, although, why bother then...

If they ever actually levelled up, anyway.
