Cancel a boarding op

Post by pref » Fri, 4. Jan 19, 04:17

How can cancel a boarding op?
I started one because after finishing last boarding i noticed a little red spinner remained on the hud below and left of the crosshair and i did not like it. Spinner went away, but now i see no option to cancel the current operation.

Not sure if possible, but is there an arrow on the Map between ships that offers cancellation via the right-click context menu?

If you are still in the protect boarding pods part. I have cancelled by opening the map, right click on the waypoint line of the ship/s in question and remove all orders. However if you have a few marines on board they may die due to not having enough marines with them. IF there is no one on board then no probs.

I have not cancelled while all members are on board.
The red thing you mention, I thought appears after you get a missile lock and then it does not go away. I didnt think it was due to the boarding op

My guess for why the red Incoming Missile light stays on sometimes is that it could be when one of dumbfuire missiles with >100km range are used against me. The light may stay on until they reach max range. Didn't test yet though.

Thanks for the replies.
It was my own ship, never checked the arrow as it should have had no commands since i was flying it not the pilot. Next i check if this works thanks.

So that red circle means unguided missiles being shot at me? Never got the missile warning.

Wow, i cannot get rid of that boarding op it seems.
If anyone figured out how to cancel an ongoing op started from playership please let me know.
The mission it added cannot be canceled, on boarding window i had the cancel option disabled. I sent no marines on the ship yet but i'm afraid my marines might do something stupid if anything reduces that vessel's hull below 50% :D

If you started the op and still in protect boarding pod phase then you should be able to cancel like i posted above.
Which phase are you trying to cancel at?

It's at destroy turrets. Never touched that ship, just started the op.
I boarded another vessel since just to make it go away, but it didn't work out.

edit: also i have no orders active for my ship which initiated the op.

Does the Mission Manager contain an entry that can be cancelled from there?

I'm just guessing at this point.

No, it's a TEL CV, the first random boardable ship that came into my view. Really just started the op in order to make sure the previous was over... wanted to cancel it right after start.

And in the behaviour tab what do you have listed there?

Anything with boarding hit the X to the right and do this for any other ship you may have used

Future doesn't look bright for that ship. Seems i have to steal it to get rid of the op mission.

Okies- Kludgey, but this worked if the pods haven't reached the target ship yet:
- Click each boarding pod, then right click the owning ship and transfer the crew back to the ship.
- Do this for each boarding pod
- Now that the crew are all back on the original ship, note the pods are STILL trying to board the target ship.
- One by one destroy the pods. Note that the pods are empty so you aren't killing your crew!

I collected my marine from the pods, now the pods are zooming around or flat out disappearing and reappearing as soon as I get close enough to shoot them. :?
Edit: I teleported to another ship and sent my cobra to intercept the pods and then teleported back and they stayed put long enough to destroy. thanks for the hint!

@ rotenox: Hello. Note that this is an old thread started many game versions ago and some information in it may no longer apply in current games. If you wish to, please start a new thread in the Tech Sp forum and give the information requested in the sticky thread at the top of the forum there (such as game version and modded state, etc) and especially a link to a vanilla save showing your unmanned boarding pods zooming about wildly. Thanks.
