My simple requests (based on my progress so far) would probably be:

1. improved graphical effects for explosions
2. a wider view of the cockpit radar
3. momentry switch & toggle options for some of the controls like ship modes (very useful for Hotas)
4. bring back the XR semi transparent ice asteroids
5. resolve the clipping issues particularly the player ship passing through objects
6. default map view zoomed out a bit, I find its always too zoomed in when enabling the map

Bit of a repost, but here are some things .




General

1. Increase walking speed.
Maybe increase base walk speed to match current ‘run’ speed, and increase run speed by 1.5-2?

2. Increase base “Scan” range for ships, 2 KM is way too close.
Maybe tie to radar types?

3. Police Comm Chatter
Remove the “Illegal goods” comm chatter between NPC ships as it is confusing on whether the Police are talking to you or a random NPC or when police are talking to you, maybe have the pop-up comm window appear or some sort of indicator.

4. Increased firing ranges for stations, M, L and XL ships, but with accuracy/falloff penalties for firing at ships smaller than their class. Presently combat feels so cramped especially with larger ships practically on top of each other to fire.
For example: M 4-7 KM range, L, 7-10 KM range, Stations, XL,10-15 KM range

5. Hiring changes
A “Taxi” for hired personnel to get to a remote location, instead of manually boarding the personnel to transport them. In the early days, you could pay a nominal credit surcharge and slight time penalty for the personnel to move, then later when you have more money, you could designate ship(s) as the company shuttle(s)

6. Research
  • 1.Ability to queue research orders.
    2.More things to research
    3. Reverse engineer vessels?
    4.Technology/missions/info salvaged from wrecks?
    5.Percentage improvements to blueprints?
    • a.Researched blueprints could produce slightly more, or for slightly fewer resources
      b. Researched Ships, weapons produced by player could have various improvements. This could be spun off to the AI as well. So that there are differences between one station or another.
    6. Add more requirements/differing research times to research
    7. Maybe a station or stations you need to build, or specific things you need to find?
7. Teleport
Teleport needs some sort of cost, as it makes the playfield feel tiny, with you bouncing about with no consideration. For most playthroughs, it should be just for cases of emergency/war or you are so wealthy that your time is more valuable than mere credits.

8. SETA
SETA should have sort of cost or resource sink to it.

AI

1. Improve docking performance and speed

2. Increase NPC approach speed to gates/highways.

3. Mine Targeting
  • a. Turret sets and escorts set to defense or missile defense should engage mines
    b. Maybe a new set of orders/job for ships could be a minesweeper. Right-click and Clear Hostile Military (mines, towers, etc), Hostile Civilian in a set radius like Explore.
Cosmetic

1. Ability to sit down in a chair, while the ship is under NPC control.
2. Add more information and detail to the in-game encyclopedia.
3. Maybe an optional tie-in the X4 wiki?
4. Ability to use map/display via a ship console.

Long-Shot Wishlist

1. Rapid launch for fighters/drones.
This probably unlikely, as it would require a redesign of the ships not to take off VTOL style.

This is my first post on this forum so here goes:

I know the devs have a huge number of requests but here's mine (probably repeated elsewhere)

1. Missiles - the icon should be a different shape depending on the missile type loaded.

2. You should be able to see the external view on any owned ship. The range should depend on the degree of teleport range you have.

And .... I know you will have been asked before ... But please make npc pilots fly around solid objects (especially when docking) It is really not cool to see them trying to butt their way through

As others stated, I will just repeat the ones which matters to me most:
- bulk Crew Transfer really needed
- ability to transfer wares between station and build storage on demand (without using the transport and micromanaging it)
- in-place editing of the ship names (not overwriting the ship names every time)
- ability to name wings
- station defenders should not attack any other ships than the ones which are attacking station, and ESPECIALLY not friendlies engaging other friendlies in the sector
- equipment ware transfer (drone, missiles) between ships to be working :)
- missiles icons

I'd also add:
- fix capital weapons being ultra weak
- make carriers useful (by repair and rearm of docked ships)
- give Xenon capship mroe turrets and main weapons (pew pew pew lasers do not count as main weapon)

I wish for an infotab in the map or somewhere where it reads what kind of added discounts I may have for a station. When you do thos scans around station you get some discounts and so on. Or hack the trade console for more discounts. I like those numbers to be seen somewhere.

I don't know if somebody wrote this

But why do we have to open the map for everything?

Property menu could be totally without the map (everybody uses that one the most) and you could see where you are flying, don't have to mention the performance would be better until you need the map :D

Just like x3 almost all the buttons could be on the left to open without the map, or at least property menu
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

Purely from my game play .. Then I agree with BigBANGtheory's 2 and 6
2. An expanded view of the cockpit radar...
6. I wish the map would remain at the level of zoom with which I left it.

Other than the usual bug fixes.... More than happy.

Possibly my biggest gripe with a simple fix:

- When you get messages from a ship (like "under attack" or "cannot complete order") please for the love of god, add a "show on map" option to the interact options wheel, so we can just immediately be taken to the map and centered on the ship in question. Words cannot express what a dramatic quality of life improvement this would be.

A few extremely simple quality-of-life fixes for gamepad / joystics users in particular:

- Currently, if you select/target anything with your mouse, then swap to using your controller it will immediately unlock your target every single time. ANY input on the gamepad (even pushing a thumbstick to turn craft) will unlock your target selection. This is utterly infurating :evil: Please fix it so that the game keeps your target when using gamepad after mouse+keyboard inputs.

- Please implement multi-button controller controller inputs for bindings. Just like being able to bind SHIFT + K, we should be able to bind, say D-Pad up + A button to a command. This would dramatically improve the numbers of bindings a gamepad player has available, and lessen the constant need to swap to mouse + keyboard for the simplest of commands.

Just adding my suggestion an action report screen that when you are attacked you can easily find out which ships are under attack or for example last order not completed that sort of thing.

I really like the idea about the show on map feature too that would definitely make things easier to manage your ship's

One other "simple" request ...would like to see coverage of satellite before placement..click on a map ,, see the coverage, command "drop satellite here" ..... :)

I'll just add a couple of things.

1. We need an API. I use Voice Attack and doing things like deploying satellites/resource probes/nav beacons/mines/laser towers is so unweildly. Currently, I have to program all the kestrokes needed to deploy these things and if my inventory is depleted on something, it totally screws up the entire thing.

Here's what I'm talking about. To drop a satellite, I have programmed, into Voice Attack, the following commands:

Drop Sat:
Press Enter key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Pause 0.05 seconds *
Press Left key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Pause 0.05 seconds
Press Enter key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Pause 0.05 seconds
Press Down key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Pause 0.05 seconds
Press Enter key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release
Pause 0.05 seconds
Press Escape key and hold for 0.1 seconds and release

*Note: Pauses are necessary because the menu system can't keep up without them.

Now, If I have both types of satellites, I have to make sure that I have the correct number of "down" commands to deploy the one that I want. But, If I''m out of stock on one, it's going to go to the next item and deploy it instead, in this case, a Nav Beacon. Having an API would resolve this and a lot of other things like station management, fleet management, financial asset management and so forth.

2. Head tracking. Since I'm not able to bind the POV hat on my HOTAS for looking around, it means I have to take my hands off my controller and use the keyboard to look around. No, NO, a million times NO! It defeats the purpose of HOTAS. I've programmed the commands in Voice Attack, but having to say "look left and up", "look right and down" and "center view" to look around is not a good solution.

Crew
Need a way to mass transfer crew in simple clicks (just a simple option on ship as in transfer wares or crew)

When you are selecting 1 by 1 when selecting the workplace to be assigned to dont make us go look at what station or ship hes docked in our huge pile of owned property! just have the only possible places he can be transferred to on the transfer crew menu!
Make it so that after chatting the marine to work someplace else, it auto focus the menu on the right side so we can just clickydiclack our way with just keyboard.(and again, just make all the possible places he can be assigned to ATM on this menu)

Need more info on F2 camera mode... need speed indicator, shield indicator, the missile danger thing all on F2 viewing mode.

Need a way to target missiles manually, if my turret can do it why cant i?

Here's a few gripes I have that aren't listed in this thread:

1. Miners/ Miner AI - I don't know if other people do but I find mining incredibly fun. I think its awesome you can mine in this game... up until large miners. When I first saw the large miners on youtube I was hyped. Couldn't wait to get one and once I did I unfortunately found out we have no way to dispatch drones. :( Is there a way we could get that command to dispatch drones (mining/combat/repair)? I think it would add more diverse gameplay. Like maybe when assaulting a station and it focuses on the carrier but after all the smaller fighters start attacking the station drawing its attention you could dispatch repair drones real fast. I mean it could stay the way it is with combat/repair drones I just really want the ability to have player controlled command to dispatch mining drones to retrieve the ore you mined.

1b. Miner AI needs an overhaul/fix - So I'm mining silicon right next to this refinery. I brought a couple other miners with me but every time I assigned them to automine silicon with 0 (gate jump to mine) and 0 (gate jump to sell) they just ignore it and ALWAYS leave the sector to mine. They never stay in sector to mine resources even if there's a HUGE abundance of resources to be mined. I thought maybe resource probes were necessary so the AI could pathfind to it but nope. They never mine in sector. Especially frustrating with your PHQ aswell. When assigning them to mine for the station the also always leave sector.

2. The command to dock/call ships. The command exists to call ships that have been stored inside of a station so why can't we have the reverse command to have a said ship stored. Like maybe getting your carrier ready for an attack but you don't want all your docked ships in the open. Having the command to store ships would be great.

3. People have already pointed this one out but some optimization. I especially notice with asteroid fields I'll fall down to 10-16 fps. I have a 5820K and a 980ti. Not a top tier computer by any means but I've had more visually demanding games running at above 30fps. I understand that with loading the initial sector there will be a delay but the constant frame drop when I'm mining in a asteroid field gets SUPER annoying.

I hope I don't sound whiny. Outside of this I'm having a fantastic time. I love this game and its what drove me to write about its flaws. This thing could really be a block buster for the space sim genre. Cheers EgoSoft for a 100hrs of gameplay and cheers to 100's more! :D

Add a "Pirate" start that allows to be friends with Scales and give FUNCTION to the Scale equipment dock.

I didn't read through the whole thing, but definitely a lot of great idea. +1

What I really need is a menu hotkey to collapse every single item in the property owned... the number of clicks you have to do to accomplish this is atrocious.
