It's not quite that good. Don't expect a ship with a Digger mod installed to suddenly be collecting minerals 4x faster than it was previously. As far as I can tell the mod increases the damage mining beams do to rocks, effectively reducing the amount of time it takes to split the rock into suitable sized chunks for collection. Yield of those chunks however is unchanged. Tested this in my last game with a Tuatara with a pair of mining drills, 1 modded, the other not. Shot the same rock with both, reloading the game for the second shot. Overall yield was broadly comparable, though the modded beam did split the rock noticeably quicker.thomasbkdk wrote: ↑Wed, 14. Also have in mind that there is a weapon mod that can be installed that increases yields from mining by >425%
It could be worth wile investing in.

What I do to collect components is I park a scout with default orders "dock and wait" at a station somewhat close to a gate bordering a xenon sector (or any 2 warning factions). Place a satellite near the gate on both border sectors. Periodically I'll check it and have the scout "collect drops" and "deposit inventory". Right now I've got over 200 high energy catalyst.dholmstr wrote: ↑Wed, 14. Apr 21, 16:09It prolly is, and that's another reason why I think a L miningturret is better. I just need to upgrade 1 turret and not several. As I have problems getting enough modmaterial (high evergy... somethign something...) and you need 3 for one weapong upgradethomasbkdk wrote: ↑Wed, 14. I've wasted 500+ trying to get good rolls....SwizzleStick86 wrote: ↑Wed, 14. Lol me too, but with that l-mining turret upgrade, it's just a basic component, and the minimum bonus you can get is +425%, so I do those once and leave it.

Well yes, the mining bonus I just let it be whatever I get the first time. It's about when I do weapons for ships.SwizzleStick86 wrote: ↑Fri, 16. Oh ok, yeah I'm the same way for weapons/shields etc..I usually end up trying it 4 times, if I don't get it then I reload...thankfully a m.2 nvme ssd makes load times not as bad.

I also use combat engines for my minings ships but for an other reason. I followed my own mining ships to observe what they did, and I also make a try beeing a simple passanger in the mining ships cockpit.
Most often a mining ship select an astreoide belt and inside a little area it move from an asteroid to an other. Travel mod is rarely used, except for initial travel from station to working area (and come back). So I had the feeling having better speed and acceleration on short distance was the most important factor. Combat engine imposed it as the adequate answer for the situation.
It is nothing as '' scientific" and document than Arshiba work

Great thread, I wish I had come across it earlier. Turns out the Teladi Crane I have always used is not a good choice due to its abysmal mining speed.
Argon Magnetar does indeed seem like the best option for an L miner. But the Paranid Chthonios might come close: it has 18% faster mining, 63% faster travel speed, and only 30% less cargo hold.
And with 2 L turrets, same cargo hold and even faster speed than the Chthonios, the new Donia L miner could also be a strong contender for best L miner.

According to https://www.qsna.eu/x4/efficiency , Chthonios's less cargo but increased speed would yield more m3 per hour when it comes to hauling. And since it has 18% faster mining, it might just be the best mining ship.LandogarX4 wrote: ↑Wed, 22. Mar 23, 20:36 Great thread, I wish I had come across it earlier.
