Mining

Post by Dragonlord1975 » Tue, 26. Oct 21, 22:59

It's been awhile since I have played and I've been see that the ore and silicon amounts have been reduced big time. When was this done because I'm having a hard time getting enough ore and silicon to keep even 1 station operational.

Don't know that's true -
Where are you mining - what with and what's your station setup?

With X4, there are many factors to take into account but there is plenty of ore and silicon to be found.

I have my HQ (in it's starting position) and have about 10-15 miners - it has about 5 Silicon wafer modules
and about 3 Ore refinement modules.
In total - I have 4 claytronics, 4 Hull Part as a basic setup - with the associated things necessary such as
QT, Microchips etc...

Mining yield is much less and collection slower in sectors close to the ring highway than in those further away. You can trade mining efficiency/speed for increased risk to your miners to give you a few different gameplay options: eg slow and safe versus faster and riskier.

It was done with the 4.00 release, which also included a Silicon mining bug!!!

The bug was fixed in 4.10. The yield reduction also affects the Xenon who are real pushovers now...

Xenon .... Pushovers.....

Hmmm, I am obviously doing something wrong....
My Nodan is having a hard time against more than 2 Xenon at a time -
Poor "Noddy the Nodan" has to escape using boost and travel drive quite a lot
now the Xenon seem to be targeting him a lot...
In Hatikvah, and indeed some other sectors - there seem to be lots of Xenon
pouring out of the gate sometimes - many P, M, N (don't see "T"'s a lot)
And every now and again get a K or I coming through which I have to go
and take care of it's engines with the Katana before I am confident enough
to risk my Ody attacking it.

They can only mildly intimidating. The Nodan is not that much of a good choice IMHO. Try something with 4 guns (bolts of course for maximum damage) and 2 or 3 shields (Eclipse, Ares etc). Never mind their slow speed, just give some "drag" mods and, of course, "recharge rate" ones for the shields the more advanced the better... With a ship like that you don't even have to use the Katana to tale out engines and turrets of ships to be captured and they can even take down K and I XL shields if you are patient enough...

As was pointed out, mining yields close to the center in safe sectors are lower now. You can still get both safety and yields in Terran sectors though.

I like the change personally. But something truly needs to be done to make the Xenon more intimidating so there's more dynamic gameplay going on.
