Hey all,
So, I captured an SCA Behemoth, far from my first time doing that. I sent it to dock at my HQ - having promoted one of the Marines to Captain - along with the ship I use for boarding, an L-Class Buffalo Freighter.
I order the Marines to be transferred back to the Buffalo and the Behemoth turns yellow and no longer appears in my Property list. It does appear on the normal sector list though and can be ordered around just fine.
Going aboard the Behemoth the Captain is listed as "Teladi Company" and assigning another Captain - from another ship - see's that new Captain showing as Teladi Company too.
I checked my save for this ship and it has an entry for the ship, and crew of 'cover="Teladi"' - so it looks like the ship has re-disguised its self for some weird reason.
Note: when I Boarded the ship it had been fully revealed as SCA. When I captured it it went GREEN and was in my Property list. Only when I transferred the Marines back out did it revert to its Disguise.
I do use a mod called "Better Piracy" which changes the pre-boarding op (basically turns it into a mission with prompts) but the author has previously stated that he doesn't change the boarding mechanics. I have mentioned this in the mod thread though.
Has anyone else seen this? I could save edit, I think, to fix it, but perhaps there's another way...can I scan my own ships?
Thought: I could exploit this to do dastardly deeds that'll be blamed on TEL...that'd be cool lol.
Update: As soon as I gave the ship an attack order - the area "attack targets in range" to be specific - it went green and my Captain now says "Scoob Corp." for Faction and the ship is now listed in my Property Owned list. It'll be interesting to see if it re-disguises again...
... It hasn't so far.
Scoob.
One of my ships is in disguise. Erm, whut?

There was a thread a while back where a captured pirate ship continued with its default behaviour of 'Plunder'. Maybe the disguise behaviour is part of something like that?

That would be my guess. Last ship I captured kept its default behavior of "Recon", so default behaviors aren't always getting cleared on ownership change.

It seems like it's just behaviors don't get cleared when captain changes. Like you can set a ship to auto-trade with 3+ star captain then swap out to 0 star captain and it still continues to auto-trade.

That's a similar problem, I agree. Ownership change should always reset to hold position. Captain change should check to make sure the new captain can do everything restricted by pilot rating, which I believe is just fleet formations and default orders.Clownmug wrote: ↑Wed, 6.
