I have up until yesterday mainly done smalltalk with an occasional expedited hire w/o care of the stats..

I went to my own station and it had a lot of capitol ship NPC among it's population and I needed a good set.

I decided to just hire them 4 at a time and look for 12-13+ star NPC.

I did this over a couple efforts as I was stopping to deal with station attacks, etc.

Today I check on this station and it's got 27 NPC employed!

The GUI was showing it in a few variations. My principle station NPC had the 2 assignments for patrol, but then each DO that I apparently hired/fired was also showing these 2 assignments... among other anomalous display of this.

I removed the 2 patrol assignments by adding them to my squad and the display toned down a bit on the station, but remains as 27 management NPC from specialists engineers and so on.

Communication with them does not offer a 'fire' option but I did see some with a 'work somewhere else' option.


I have not noticed this at another zone where I had 1 or 2 stations and perhaps an NPC station present also, but have to look closely now I think.

The only thing I can think of is that the skunk proximity to the station was somehow part of the cause along with maybe hiring multiple NPC before closing the remote comm to let it settle. During one NPC roundup I was hovering very close to my station. Assuming previous round-ups I made have not produced this issue, I had been far from the stations that were drawn from.

..this game remains vanilla XR w/o DLC and I have pre/post saves if anyone wishes to look at them.

Going to clean it up now I hope. Don't think it'll be to hard but have not had this experience before now AFAIK.
